POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Joe Ariola | LHP | Diamondbacks
22 years old, 6’2” 190, lefty
2026: 1.56 ERA, 1.37 FIP, 64 K in 34.2 IP across four levels.

My Actual Score has him at +55.8. That’s 3rd of 348 Double-A relievers and the best reliever in the D-backs system. He struck out 45.7% of the hitters.

Ariola is a Long Island kid who threw just 51 innings in three years at Wake Forest, almost all in relief.

Arizona took him in the 7th round in 2025, 213th overall.

2026 was his first pro season, and he pitched at four levels.

Actual Score by level,

Low-A: +57.5*
High-A: +37.6*
Double-A: +92.9*

Every stop is a short stint, so each one carries a star.

The +55.8 over all 18 games is the number to trust, and it is the one score here without a star.

Per game he beat the average reliever at every level.

At Low-A it was +2.83 against -0.99. At High-A it was +0.73 against -1.22. At Double-A it was +3.50 against -0.85.

He reached Double-A in his first pro season and finished with a positive raw score at all three stops.

The strikeouts are the story.

MLB Pipeline noted that nobody among 2,402 minor league pitchers with at least 30 innings struck out a higher share.

His High-A percentiles back it up:

K% 96th, CSW% 96th, Z-Contact% 96th and Whiff% 92nd. Even his strikes are hard to square.

The pitch mix, from his Fall League work (small sample).

A fastball at 94.2 mph, a 79.2 mph curveball with 12 to 6 shape, a slider at 87.8 and a changeup at 86.5.

Stuff+ grades are 98, 97, 105 and 104.

With two strikes he went to the curveball, that’s his putaway pitch.

He lost about three months to a left elbow issue early in the year and healed it with rest instead of surgery.

His walk rate is only above average (63rd percentile at High-A) and his ground ball rate was 32nd.

His overall prospect rank sits lower than his reliever rank because relievers carry less weight in the overall list.

A left handed reliever with a plus fastball and curveball, a huge strikeout rate and above average grades at every stop.

My model projects +20.4 if he stays in Double-A in 2027 and +15.8* at Triple-A.
