I am so grateful for my two summers at the Blue Stars. The relationships, experiences, lessons, opportunities and memories are uniquely mine and I wouldn’t change them for anything.

Two staffs, two battery’s, I’ll be grateful for each and everyone of you forever. Thank you for becoming my family and favorite people I’ve ever been around.

To the Blue Stars organization, thank you for believing in me and never giving up on me, even when I was ready to give up on myself.

To my friends and family who have supported me through every audition, rehearsal, show day, buy stop, tuition payment and so on, thank you for always believing that I was worth all your support and sacrifice.

10 years of my life culminated at DCI finals last Saturday. I’ve never loved anything as much as I did this activity, and I’m grateful that it’s finally time to age-out and say goodbye. This is the easiest goodbye I’ve ever had to deal with. Not because I don’t love it anymore, but because I gave every bit of myself for as long as I could that I have nothing left to give.

when working with two corps on staff this summer, I experienced the singular pleasure of watching people i loved fall in love with other people i loved.

there was a time in spring training where it was pouring with rain and the entire drum corps was huddled underneath stadium bleachers. lightning was preventing us from moving, and the rain lasted hours. but it was here where i watched each section witness each other’s slow progress of miseries and injuries, and long bouts of monotony through rehearsing, and the occasional reminiscence of vets performing alongside each other the previous year. the scene itself was not remarkable, in fact im sure this has taken place at every corps in some fashion. but it was precisely these scenes found in drum corps i missed the most from my life when i took a step back from the activity in 2025. the forgettable, in-between moments in which nothing seemed to be happening but the absence of them was unfillable.

saying “both blue stars and spirit became a home for me” feels like the understatement of the century. i’m forever grateful for the in-between’s shared this summer with all of my friends, new and old :)

Never in my marching career would I have imagined I get to hear that from the field as a performer. I'm grateful I was given the opportunity to crank and perform with such an amazing group of people and learn from one of the best staff teams I've probably ever seen. From funny moments to frustration, I enjoyed every part of it and learned how to overcome hardships and recover quickly in such times.

Would I want to do this again? Probably not.
Am I going to? Maybe
