POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I had a wonderful time attending the Choose Kindness Retreat, bringing together students from all of our Pleasant Grove schools, along with Oak Canyon and Lindon Elementary. It was inspiring to see so many young people come together around one simple message: kindness matters, and even the smallest act can make a difference. 💙☀️ Knowing someone’s “rest of the story matters”

Shine with Kindness ☀️

Yesterday One Brave Thing teamed up with @choosekindnesspg, and we landed on a simple truth: Bravery is faith in action. Kindness is where it starts.

Nine schools were in the room. Every elementary, junior high, and high school in Pleasant Grove, plus Oak Canyon and Lindon Elementary. Grades 5 through 12.

I shared my story about struggling with social anxiety in school, and how one dear friend changed my life with a simple hello. That hello became my goal: say hi to one person every day. Such a small act, and it has empowered so many lives since.

Bravery doesn’t have to be big to be powerful. Most of the time, feeling seen comes from the small things. That’s the kindness that connects a community.

Major Eric Jensen also presented Choose Kindness with $1,500 from Pleasant Grove City to keep this work going 💙

“Kindness doesn’t need a translator.” - Jenny Oaks Baker

We joined @choosekindnesspg and the @pghs.kindness.club at an event celebrating the many hands who help this unique program of kindness in our schools and community.

Thank you to @jennyoaksbaker for your inspiring words and for sharing your incredible talent. You have inspired us to notice people, treat them with respect and to make a difference in their lives.

Thank you to the many volunteers who keep this program running. Little by little, we can each make our city a little brighter and more kind.

🎣 Huck Finn Day 🎣

Face painting the kids is always one of the highlights of Huck Finn Day! Seeing their excitement as they pick their designs and watch them come to life makes the day so special.

It also brought back memories from last year when I was an attendant and a little boy cried because I didn’t make his face paint scary enough. 😂 It’s moments like these that make Huck Finn Day so memorable year after year.

I had the best time at the Berserker Blitz yesterday! Cheering everyone on during the beanbag toss and seeing the athletes absolutely light up was the coolest thing ever. 🎯✨

One of the best part was running into a previous PG Homecoming King and Queen (Slide 1!). They were so hyped to take a picture with the crown, and getting to celebrate them was an honor. 👑💙

This is PG’s second Berserker Blitz, and watching these adaptive opportunities grow has been so beautiful. Days like yesterday are exactly where the change for more accessible opportunities happens. 💙🤍

Classroom Visits✏️

I had a amazing opportunity to go share my CSI with a first grade classroom. It was so exciting to get to teach the little kids about how he can be good role models, and how we can find good role models to look up to. What made this experience even more exciting was the teacher whose class I got to teach, was my teacher when Covid happened! I was able to ponder on how she helped me grow in a year that was so wild.

After sharing my presentation, all the kids stamped their hands, and we wrote down, who we looked up to. I brought some people who I look up to who are part of @choosekindnesspg & @pghs.hopesquad! With these people, we went out and hung out with the kids at recess and created some fun memories! I’m so grateful that I got this opportunity and can’t wait to go back! 🩷🩵💚

We told the kids we were going on a “secret leprechaun mission.”
Made a few treats, picked a few doorsteps, and ran after ringing the bell.

But what I really hope they remember…
isn’t just the fun—
it’s what it felt like to do something for someone else. No need of recognition from others, but that feel good feeling.

We want our family to be the reason why no one “sits” alone.

Look around. We can all do something to help someone else. 🥰🫂
