Somewhere between Pretty Mas and happily ever after… ✨🌸💜

But the real fairytale isn’t the castle behind me.

For me, playing mas has always meant more than feathers, jewels and beauty. I play mas for freedom. For emancipation. For culture. For connection to the ancestors who came before me.

We aren’t always raised knowing the fullness of who we are, where we come from, or the history carried within us. I made a conscious choice to learn—to know my roots, honor my heritage, and make sure my children grow up connected to theirs too.

And maybe that is the fairytale: realizing it was never a fairytale at all. This is our history. This is our culture. This is our real life—and we get to live it.

To dance in it. To celebrate it. To pass it on. To experience joy and freedom in places where our ancestors once fought for both.

I play mas for emancipation. I play mas for my ancestors. And I play mas because joy, too, is part of the legacy. ✨
