Meet Chris. At 12, he tore his ACL playing football. His growth plates were still open, which made traditional reconstruction less than ideal, and that approach would have meant borrowing a tendon from elsewhere in his body rather than preserving his own ACL.

So we did something that had never been done commercially before. Chris became the first patient in the world to receive the BEAR Implant (commercially) after its FDA approval, a procedure that helps the ACL heal itself instead of replacing it.

Nearly five years later, Chris isn't just back on the field. He's one of the top-ranked players in his class across the nation. Incredibly proud of Chris, and we're rooting for him as he keeps developing and making strides in lacrosse!

Lacrosse season hits different when you’ve earned your way back.

Chris Berardis returned to the field nine months after ACL surgery with the BEAR Implant and went on to become a national champion in his division.

His family and his surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Glashow, were part of every step of that decision and recovery.

As a new Lacrosse season begins, stories like Chris’s are a reminder that an ACL injury does not have to define the outcome. 🐻
