🏰 Welsh Castles Relay 2026

209 miles.
20 stages.
Caernarfon ➝ Cardiff.

This race is absolute madness and somehow every single year it gets faster.

Swansea Harriers returned to Castles for the first time since our 2022 victory and despite finishing 5th overall… this squad ran almost 30 minutes faster than the team that won the event back then.

That tells you everything about the standard this weekend.

From mountain stages to course records, stage wins to pure survival mode 😅 every single athlete emptied themselves for the team against some of the best opposition in UK road running.

Huge respect to:
🥇 Salford Harriers
🥈 Pontypridd Roadents
🥉 Meirionnydd
4️⃣ Highgate Harriers

And also a massive thank you to Les Croupiers for organising another fantastic edition of this incredible race. The atmosphere, competition and standard across the entire weekend was unbelievable.

To all the teams involved — thank you for putting on an absolute show.

We’ll be back stronger ❤️💙

Stay tuned for the daily breakdowns of how the weekend unfolded… because honestly, every single stage had a story 😅

Castles really is different.

⚡ Joe Brier – 45.93 (400m)
Two weeks ago, one of the biggest names in the club kicked off his outdoor season in style.

That is a serious opener over one lap — and a reminder that Swansea Harriers is not just strong on the roads, but right across the sport.

Newport 10K

🥇 Dafydd Jones – 29:24
🥈 Jon Butler – 29:56
Jack Hurley – 32:49 (11th)
Sam Joseph – 34:27
Daniel May – 34:29

A brilliant front-end showing, backed up by real depth through the field.

Marathon Performances

Mike Kallenberg – 2:22:26 (Manchester Marathon)
Matt Rees – 2:29:43 (Newport Marathon)

Big performances over the long distance.

Bristol Track Club 5K

Chris Booth – 15:47
Alfie – 15:57

Strong senior runs in a quality field.

A Special Mention – Oliver Cobbold

This deserves real attention.

Oliver Cobbold (14 years old) – 15:24 for 5K

Not in an age-group race.
In the senior men’s field.

That is a sensational performance for an athlete so young and shows not only talent, but courage and belief to step into that environment and deliver like that. A huge run and one that deserves proper recognition.

Also in action:

Osian Morgan (U18) – 16:07
Another excellent performance stepping up into senior racing.

👏 Tomi Jones (U14)
10:21 for 3K, and then back racing again the same weekend.

The future is coming through fast.
