I wish someone told me that navigating the first healthy relationship after leaving a toxic relationship was going to be a challenge. But here I am, learning and discovering it for myself. Not a lot of people understand the healing process one goes through when they have to heal from the effects of gaslighting. Some days it feels like a battle between yearning for genuine love and happiness and the fear of repeating past patterns. On occasion I’ll catch myself analyzing every word, every gesture, searching for signs of manipulation or deceit. It’s as if my mind is programmed to anticipate the worst, to brace myself for the inevitable disappointment that used to follow in toxic relationships. While I’ve healed a lot of my relational wounds, from time to time the hyper vigilant part of me comes out trying to protect the part of me who’s still wounded. That part appears as doubt and when it speaks it says, “Is this normal? Will all this goodness go away? Is this genuine?” Despite the doubt that occasionally creeps into my mind, I remind myself that THIS relationship is different. My partner consistently shows me love, patience, consistency, stability, and understanding. It’s a slow process, reprogramming my mind to embrace this healthy relationship. And I remind myself everyday that: 🤍 I am a practice in trust, choosing vulnerability over self-protection. One simple practice that has been really helpful is a tool called The Work by Byron Katie. I came across Byron Katie’s The Work in 2018 and it’s been a powerful tool for me since. It’s a tool that helps to reframe any thought or limiting belief you might be working with. Swipe left to learn more and leave a comment below if you felt this was useful. P.S. This is truly how we go to @ashesxdiamonds, he brings his @nytimes and I bring the book I’m currently reading. #thework #byronkatie #consciousrelationships

Look, I’m sorta over the era where women or people with vulvas need to apologize for bragging about a well lived life created by their own values. I’m ready to be in the era where we’re celebrated for bragging about being madly in love with a life we worked so damn hard on the soul line and goal line of our lives. Do you know what a person with a p🐯ssy has to put up with living in a toxic patriarchal system? 🤦🏽‍♀️💁🏽‍♀️ NOT EASY. I’m ready to be in the era where we are celebrated for bragging about the delicious pleasure I feel in my body in and out of the bedroom. Bragging is a lost art. I think it’s time we bring it back. 🤍

Almost everyone... it’s awesome to see this whole family grow up together and support one another. Without them I don’t think I would be able to do what I do today.
