2025 CANPL Westerns Recap 🇨🇦:

Squat: 260kg/573lbs (+10kg)
Bench: 195kg/430lbs (+5kg)
Deadlift: 275kg/606lbs (-2.5kg ATPR, +5 from Provs)
Total: 730kg/1609lbs (+20kg)
9/9, 27/27 whites (again) - 6th place

Something about proof and whatnot.

This was a meet that went far beyond my own expectations. I oddly came into this meet more nervous then I ever have. I haven't competed in a high stakes event like this under national level judging, and against tough opponents. This is all while still not being completely at 100% from the injury (safe to say like 95%?)

Squats I argue had the most room in the tank. Played smart with squats all prep and paid off. I am eying 272.5/600lbs now. For bench, while 200kg/440lbs was out of reach, taking a safe 5kg PR was the right move. Deadlifts are still coming back slowly, but as usual, comes in clutch right when I needed it on a bit of a hail mary for the 20kg total PR

So many people to thank, @colton_prc we have been at this for six meets now, and we are constantly ascending, and always trusting the process pays off every time. Thank you @luke_bermingham @vinnyfromnan @hendy_pl @liam_prc @kuellepl for the awesome handling and hype respectively. Of course, thank you to my soon to be wife @felicity.dean for always being the one who listens to my constant, yet rollercoaster emotions as well as making sure I eat 😂❤️ I appreciate the hype squad of friends and family who made sure I got every kilo/pound on the platform, including those cheering from home. Thank you to all of the people @canplwesterns who helped make this event possible, including the sponsors, volunteers and handlers.

This whole competing thing is fun and all, but it's time to shift my focus on a new PR... getting married ♥️ 3 weeks out

PS: Sorry if u weren't tagged, too many badass peeps and a 20 tag limit 😂

It's been a little over a month, but I need to give a big frickin' hand to everyone who helped make the Snozelin Sessions a reality.
We started this project back in September of 2022, when the idea of a neurodivergent theatre space on Vancouver Island was little more than a concept. The way it's evolved since then has been nothing short of mind-blowing. Sean Enns led my peers and I through a writing cohort, and every session felt like a meaningful exploration of the different lenses through which to view the neurodivergent experience. Each show felt so different and unique, and everyone had their own skillset (or in Jesse's case, "killset") to be proud of.
Endless thanks to my lovely team. We powered through the lows of this project together and stuck with one another to experience the highs. We put blood, sweat, and tears into this project, a lot of them, and we came out the other end being able to say we did.
I can't wait to see what the future for neurodivergent art holds, and how we can unlearn our internalized ableism by curating our own worlds. Nothing about us without us.

"We hope you found what you were looking for."

Illuminate! It's the show I'm directing, and a beautiful fantasy piece about self-love and finding your spiritual center written by the amazing @lamp_m0th. Come see it at the Snozelin Sessions on Sunday, August 13!

Crawling out of my social media cave to promote another show I'm proud of. Actually, this time, it's a series of shows.
The Snozelin Sessions are a series of shows written by my (neurodivergent) friends and I. Come see these pieces at the OV Arts Centre in Nanaimo on August 11 and 13!

(Pic 1) Cringe is the one that I wrote. It's a love letter to cringe comedy, a hate letter to the idea of cringe culture, a "fuck you" to ableism in the workplace, and a celebration of the things that help us understand ourselves and each other. Performing on August 11.

(Pic 2) A Different Killset, written by Jesse Wilson, is "a murder mystery with a spectrum of subjects." It's funny, entertaining, and contains a strong creative voice. I have the privilege of starring in it, and you do not want to miss out on this one. Performing on August 13.

(Pic 3) Illuminate, written by @lamp_m0th and directed by me, is a captivating and transcendental exploration of social isolation and the search for self-acceptance in a world that doesn't always accept you back. @disaster_salad shines in this piece, and I can't wait for the world to see it. Performing on August 13.

I Wanna Be An Astronaut, written by @nosurvivalinstincts, is a thought-provoking and insightful piece on ambition, self-perception, and the struggle to reconcile reality with your dreams. Take the best sleepover conversation you've ever had, give it a theatrical makeover, watch, and enjoy. Performing on August 13.

Heartbeat, written by @brandys.asphalt01, is a short-but-sweet study on grief, depression, and what it means to move on after a loved one has died. Performing on August 11.

(Pic 4) Art by @lamp_m0th.
