On a lighter note, this has to be my best year yet. Not only is this a recap month, but it’s also a show of what can happen within a year. Last year, on this day… I was with friends, especially D.J. in what would be the last time we would be together. He was notable for showing up always: to show support or be there with his friends, and having pictures for the memory. It’s something I adapted even before he passed, and what I now have made a priority to do now that he’s no longer here. I was able to do it as this is one of my last months free before embracing the next chapter of my life. And let’s look at that for a moment, for 28 was a year of change like I’ve never had before. I learned a lot about grief again, also having an epiphany with God and close friends about my place in this world. It was clarity about what I’m doing, and realizing what was excessive and exhausting for me to do. I had the pleasure of being able to support friends, whether it was a celebration of sorts (birthdays, weddings, christenings, milestones, etc.) or supporting my friends in their careers (Amanda Gram, Sam Spano, Gab Rubin/Haus of Expression, Gianna/Focus, Twin City/Tyce, Lusso). It was all worth it to experience what support of all kinds can do to a person. And it showed happens when you support yourself too.
