One of the biggest reasons I look after my health and fitness has changed since I became a dad.

Of course, I still want to be strong.

I still want to perform well, challenge myself and achieve my own goals.

But now, there’s another reason.

I want my son to grow up seeing that looking after yourself matters.

I want him to see that exercise isn’t a punishment for what you’ve eaten.

That healthy food isn’t something to fear.

That taking care of your body isn’t about looking perfect.

It’s about feeling good, having energy, being healthy and being able to do the things you love.

And I want him to see that doing hard things is worth it, even when they’re uncomfortable.

Because our kids listen to what we say, but they also pay attention to what we do.

We can tell them to be active, eat well and look after themselves.

But those lessons mean so much more when they see us living them.

This doesn’t mean being a perfect parent.

It doesn’t mean training every day, never eating chocolate or putting fitness above your family.

It’s about showing them that your health matters, too.

And if you’re a parent who’s been putting your own health on the back burner, I get it. Life is busy, and it’s easy to put yourself last.

But looking after yourself isn’t taking something away from your kids.

You’re investing in your health, your energy and the person you get to be for them.

You don’t have to be perfect.

Just start showing them what looking after yourself can look like.

Because one of the greatest lessons we can teach our kids is one we live ourselves.

How many times have you said:
“I just haven't got the time at the moment.”

And honestly, I get it.
You've got work, family, responsibilities, a million things to think about, and barely enough time to get it all done.

The last thing you need is another person telling you to wake up at 5 am, train six days a week and meal prep every Sunday.
But here's something worth thinking about.

How long have you been putting yourself last?
How long have you promised yourself you'll get back into shape when work gets less stressful, the kids get older, or life gets a little easier?

And how many times has that perfect moment actually arrived?

The truth is, you can spend another six months waiting for the right time.
Or you can spend the next six months making progress with the time you've actually got.

You don't need to overhaul your entire life.
You don't need hours in the gym.
You don't need a perfect diet.
You need a realistic plan, a few non-negotiable habits and the willingness to keep showing up, even when life gets busy.

Because looking after yourself doesn't mean taking something away from your family.
It means making sure you're looking after the person they rely on, too.

Your health matters. Your goals matter. And you don't have to keep putting them off.

At FITLAB, we help you build a plan around your real life, so you can stop waiting and start making progress.
You don't need to find more time.
You need to make the time you have count.

How many times have you said to yourself:
“Right, this time I’m actually going to do it.”

You start on Monday feeling motivated.
You eat well.
You train hard.
You hit your steps.
You feel like you’re finally back on track.

Then life gets in the way.
Work gets stressful.
The kids need you.
You’re tired.
You have a meal out.
You miss a session.
And suddenly you feel like you’ve messed everything up again.

So you give up and tell yourself you’ll start next Monday again.
Then the same thing happens.
But the problem isn’t that you’ve failed.

The problem is that your plan didn’t account for real life.
You have a job, a family, responsibilities, social plans and plenty of other things going on outside of the gym.

You don’t need another extreme diet.
You don’t need to become obsessed with fitness.
And you don’t need to wait for life to become less busy.

You need a plan that works because life is busy.
A plan that helps you know what to do on a bad day.

When you miss a workout.
When you eat more than planned.
Because progress isn’t about never going off track.
It’s about knowing how to get back on track without feeling like you’re starting from zero.

Imagine what could change if you stopped trying to be perfect and focused on being consistent instead.

No more Monday restarts.
No more guilt.
No more feeling like you’re constantly failing.
Just steady progress.

You don’t need to start over.
You need to keep going.

Evening races just hit different — a completely different vibe and atmosphere 🌙🏃🏻‍♂️🔥

Big thanks to @abyssrunning for making every event here in Phuket better and more exciting. The level of competition keeps getting stronger, the times keep getting faster, and it’s great to be a part of it.

History of my results on Phuket races:
14.08.25 - 19:10 3:50/km OV🥇
25.09.25 - 18:55 3:47/km OV🥉
09.04.26 - 19:30 3:54/km OV5️⃣
24.09.26 - 19:10 3:50/km OV6️⃣

Of course, I would’ve loved to improve my 5K PB, but I’m currently in the base phase of training for my next HYROX races, so this one was more of a tempo session for me.

Still happy with the result. Now we keep building and get ready for the next races 💪

Abyss 5km Night Race! 🌚

19:21 finish time! ✔️

My first night series race with @abyssrunning, such a cool experience running through the Thai Jungle at night! 🌴

Happy with my pacing, holding 3:52km average pace. The Thai heat & humidity hits a bit different! 🥵 a challenging night of racing!

I’ll break 19 minutes soon 🔜 end of October 🎯

17:59 🥈

Second overall at the @abyssrunning Night Series 5K.

Went out at 3:30/km hoping to hold on but the heat and humidity had other ideas, 3:36/km avg pace.

Another great event and solid night of racing!

Into the abyss 🌑
