POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You never know who you might meet along the D&R Canal on a beautiful Sunday! I took my e-bike out for a spin, and stopped along the way to fish. They weren’t biting 😆 and after checking with a group of fishers, I kept on going
.
Then I ran into @plaroberto AGAIN when I turned around to go home! We swapped stories, photos, lures…what a great way to end the day!

Took my e-bike out for a short ride and made some new friends along the way!! Was a beautiful time for a ride but the fish just weren’t biting!

Fishing 🎣 drippppp💧courtesy of my fabulous MIL!! For real, the reel actually retrieves it’s just there’s no drag 😆
.
It’s getting dark out there in my little corner of New Jersey ⛈️ stay safe, friends! I DO want it to rain because we always need rain AND I left my waders, boots, bag and wading staff outside for a good rinse!

When I said I was a distracted fisher I meant it!! I went back to the Billy Johnson Mountain Lakes Nature Preserve aka “Mountain Lakes” to see if I could find that fish I saw last time I was here with @talesofthe48
.
In hindsight it probably was a catfish so I rigged up my two poles I find I use the most in the summer: a #zebcospincast combo and an extendable #dragontailtenkara rod
.
Edited: Not what I expected to catch here, a beautiful White Crappie!! Not easy to land on a spin cast since I threw it pretty far out!
.
Note: I started using floating Tenkara line this summer. It is AMAZING just get a length at least 2 feet longer than your rod.
.
For my spinning rods, I always use a slip bobber and #leadfree size 4 sickle hook🪝jigs. Thanks to @grumpyorca for getting me on Bobby Garland mayflies!

On the struggle bus today 😆 no fish but some panfish still on their nests today! Very low water in the D&R Canal and a lot of fishing line to bring back (and cut up).
.
I did try fishing with dandelions but alas, it got snagged on one cast! But it was a beautiful day to be biking!

Took a bike ride to get some fishing on Father’s Day and I got skunked…again!! The water along the D&R was L-O-W. But I did my part, picked up some fishing line and finally got to use the neat little line container from @grandslamproductsllc 👏 worked like a charm!
.
My go-to rig is a custom size 4 leaf free sickle hook jig and a slip bobber! I should have mentioned this earlier but around here, the water depth can vary significantly and especially along the D&R, there IS a current, so a slip bobber and a weighted jig is the way to go!
.
Then it was home and my son finally got his Dad to unwrap the Father’s Day presents I kind of hid but he found 🤣

Today’s mini project was shaping a piece of wampum I found by the dock after my Striper fishing on Martha’s Vineyard
.
Armed with an array of mini files and a four-sided nail file block (thank you Google) I did some minimal shaping and a lot of sanding
.
What do you think? More shaping or stop?
