It felt like June flew by with little to no fanfare, but when I look back at the month that was, it was filled with so much. Blooming flowers everywhere, amazing music, campfires and time outside, setting up Walana and dreaming of camping, connecting and making time with friends, and so much more! I have a feeling we are in for an amazing summer ahead!

"Noise leads to change"

Proud mama moment watching my son do his first in-depth podcast interview about his side hustle on TikTok, finding confidence as a public speaker, and how kids can better manage screentime.

I would like to take some credit for his drive, but the truth is, he has always been one of those kids who sets his own goals and holds himself to high standards (and yes, this has required some resetting over the years!).

As a parent, and in this age of AI, I've always pushed the importance of good communication, networking, empathy, and public speaking. This is where opportunity exists in the future, the stuff that can't be automated.

Also, a huge shout-out to my son's teachers and schools over the years. You've all given Ash space to be himself ❤️ and I'm forever grateful.

Happy #FamilyDay ✌️❣️. So grateful to mix a little work and pleasure with my family this long weekend in Grand Cayman. Some #caymanislands🇰🇾 travel tips below if you make it this way, just a 3-hour 15 minute non-stop flight from Toronto. 🇨🇦

It's our first time here and it's been beyond beautiful, so peaceful and perfect for anyone who loves nature and sunshine.

Heading off to @techcayman this afternoon to meet some of the people here championing tech and innovation.

Over the past 4 days, here are some of the highlights of our trip and some tips (thanks to everyone for the recommendations!).

🛥️ Did a 4-part eco boat tour to kiss stingrays, check out starfish, and snorkel at the reef with @georgeswatersports 🌊. The crew was amazing!

🌠 Did nighttime bioiluminescent snorkeling tour, which was beyond special and unique with @georgeswatersports. My mom and her friend joined as well, but didn't snorkel...maybe next time! Plus, the stars on the ride to Bio Bay were mesmerizing.

💎 Did @caymancrystalcaves
tour, which are underground caves (and a top 5 attraction in the world!). These stalactite and stalagmite crystal structures were so unique and we loved all the caves; the lake cave (see pics) and bat cave were pretty cool (and the bats stayed up high 🦇). We did a private tour since my mom and her friend were with us so we wanted to go at our own pace, which was perfect and if anyone needed a break the treehouse restaurant was in the middle of it all. Our guide Justin was so smart, sweet, and funny.

🛏️ We rented a condo on 7 Mile Beach @thegrove.cayman, which made things so easy so we could cook our own meals and enjoy the cafes in the complex as well as a 24-hour grocery store.

🚌 Aside from the tours with shuttle services, we took the public buses along 7-Mile Beach, which was totally the way to go. It was $2 local per person and the buses were the most efficient thing I've ever seen. They come every couple of minutes and you wave them down and just let them know where to drop you. We loved our little trips to George Town (which made me chuckle because we spend our summers in Georgetown, PEI ❣️).

We will all be back again soon!

What an amazing weekend of music in Three Rivers, PEI!! Four days, seven venues, 17 artists and a ton of fun! Thank you to everyone who came to Cloggeroo to enjoy the music. Thank you to the volunteers, the host venues, the vendors, and all the amazing artists who shared their talent with all of us! It was a time!!

The online world got angrier in 2024. To capitalize on this rage, Mark Zuckerberg is kicking off 2025 with the goal of engineering even more hate and misinformation on his social media sites.

Just recently, he announced that Meta is ditching its fact-checking partnerships, which will likely happen in March.
Meta is also loosening its policies around hateful conduct. These new rules now allow for speech that was previously banned, including harmful and dehumanizing statements, such as denying the existence of trans people and demeaning LGBTQ+ individuals. In 2025, these attacks are now considered, and I quote, "non-violating."

Given that Meta's platforms are used by millions of young people, 13+ to be exact based on the company's policies, this sets a dangerous precedent for the next generation.

This rise in digital hate isn’t just a made-up concern; research from the ADL shows that 22% of Americans experienced severe online harassment in the past year, up from 18% in 2023. People with disabilities were much more likely to be harassed in 2024 than the year before. LGBTQ+ people experienced an increase in physical threats, which doubled in just a year.

Mark Zuckerberg had a window of opportunity to make things safer, to build trust among his longtime loyal users (many of whom are parents who remember 2021 when Meta's algorithms were amplifying dangerous content to kids).

In 2016, I was frustrated that it was increasingly difficult to keep kids safe online, so I wrote a book on the topic. I wrote this book for parents, but almost a decade later, I now realize that my focus was in the wrong place. Parents can’t possibly keep their kids safe online when the world’s richest billionaires are profiting obscenely, both politically and personally, from making these platforms more dangerous for everyone.

Shame on Mark Zuckerberg for failing our kids and our communities, and for making hate "great" again.

We also spoke about the upcoming election in the United States, the role of critical minerals in terms of economic security, and he retained his crown as Canada's Bragger-in-Chief - always waving the flag and ambitious about our country's future. 🇨🇦
