I’ve been playing music for over 20 years, but I never quite found fulfillment as a guitarist or mixing engineer, even during my time in Vietnam. There was always something missing that I couldn’t explain. When I went to the theater, I was captivated more by the music than the movie itself, analyzing how it shaped the scenes and wondering how I could create something so powerful. But I never found anyone who shared this passion, so I stopped questioning it and just went with the flow.

Then came COVID, and during those four months at home, I had the chance to reflect. I realized how much I love composing music that tells stories and enhances the emotions of scenes. That was when I decided to start fresh—I quit my jobs and dedicated myself to studying Music Scoring for Screen and Stage at Sheridan.

This decision changed everything. I enjoyed every moment of the program, which answered the questions I had long been asking myself. I learned to compose music that tells stories, analyze different new genres, and even discovered a newfound love for synthesizers through sound design. Even better, I connected deeply with my classmates, who share my passion and understand my journey. Together, we exchanged stories and experiences that enriched our learning.

After countless hours of hard work and stress, we made it. We are now composers for film, games, animation—anything on screen. And it brings me back to something I always say: “Music is all about emotion”.
