📸 Don Chambers @ Flicker 10.09.26 | Celebrating the release of his new album O Courage Heart, Don Chambers dazzled a packed room at Flicker last week. This show blew me away. He wove beautiful songs, art and lighting into a gorgeous presentation. Plus he’s backed by an excellent band. Check out the new album. It’s got great songs and includes guest vocals from @dbtph and @davemarrmusic. And you can see them at Porchfest tomorrow! 🏡

Damn these bastards. And whichever ones @donchambersstudio is talking about, too.

It's no surprise that Don Chambers would put out an album that is also a fantastic limited edition work of very Chambers-y art. My favorite true artist of Athens, Donnie has an amazing sense of musical/visual/lyrical composition and expression and craft. Plus an innate gift for being able to take his art seriously without taking himself seriously. As anyone who saw him play the screwdriver at the album release show can attest. Some very brief sounds from the record here, including a couple of my favorite vocal moments. An incredible album, great work from Don, @jrbarner @chuckbradburn and @chrisbyronaudio (and @pfhargon in the live shows too of course!) If the Spirit Stick and Ectoplasm don't solve all my problems, at least I'll have the music.

"Digging" has arrived. It's been quite the gestation - Cat and I wrote this together back in March of 2024, recorded it at my humble little home studio, and I tried my hand at mixing and mastering it a number of times before we handed the reins over to the inimitable @chrisbyronaudio, who mixed and mastered the final version you will hear.

To me, "Digging" is a song of stagnation, dejection, hopelessness, and hope - a soul seeking reprieve, craving to come unto itself - it is one of the darkest songs I have worked on, sonically and thematically, and is very personal. To you, it can be anything.

We offer the subconscious innumerable opportunities to compare ourselves to others, and it's so easy to feel inadequate or left behind. I've heard that comparison is the thief of all joy, and that has rung true for me. Gratitude is the antidote. And we truly do always have things to be grateful for.

I'm trying to spend less time thinking and more time existing, less time consuming, and more time creating. It is highly recommended. I hope you are all well. Love ya

Lyrics:
Digging my way out again
Where it starts but never ends
Crawling trail of light, fading
Gnawing at the night, vacant

Waking in the dirt, aching
Broken frame of worth, tainted
Begging for birth, yet complacent
Writhing in the earth, nameless

Break into the light
Vision open wide
Savoring the sigh
Here, forevermore, I'll lie
