The Rum Baron strikes again! 🥃

ATG 2026 was a blast! Reuniting with old friends, making plenty of new ones, catching some incredible bands and having a wild one with my dearests at Camp Cymraeg/Cumrag and the HATW gang!

It was amazing to spot people wearing merch that I had a hand in creating as @abracadaverart, for the lovely bird boys in @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic and @overheadthealbatross, as well as for FORT.

Also thank you to @asilverdollar for trusting me with a design for @headsabovethewaves! It came out better than i had dreamed!

Phenomenal performances from DOCB, OTA, Psychonaut, Lost in Kyiv, Zeta, XO Armor, Igorr, Civil Service, Arcane Roots, Bruit, Oathbreaker and of course Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas!

Who is coming next year?!?

ArcTanGent you are my home. My heart is so full of love.

We had the absolute best weekend with all of our favourite people on this planet. It was so incredible to see our best friends play to packed tents and it was an honour to be front centre during their big moments. I'm unbelievably proud of our lads in @civilservicetheband and @wildernessesband especially, as well as @overheadthealbatross, @weareloemusic, and @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic. Also @erotic_secrets_of_pompeii are my new favourite band.

It was Charles' first ATG and you know it was something special when even he enjoyed being outside for five whole days.

I'm going to miss Fernhill Farm a lot. Even though this was only my second ATG I've grown very attached to the field. Here's hoping the new site is even better. Is it time for ATG 2027 yet?🤘

2025

•Still on my @abracadaverart bullshit. 2025 had me designing album/single covers and tour posters for @rootzero_official, Man Band, @overheadthealbatross, @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic, @weareloemusic and along with stuff for @abominablebook. Even got some my art screen printed and a load of them were shipped to China!
•Played gigs with @fortmusicuk in London, Cardiff, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Brighton with @overheadthealbatross, @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic, @solarsuk and @civilservicetheband (thank you for making my birthday show in Manchester so special).
•Recorded an album in a FUCKING CHURCH (@northhousestudio)
•Saw some class shows with some class people, inc Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails and Hand Zimmer.
•Ventured back to ATG to Camp Cymraeg, old pals and new, finding my new favourite band in the process (i can’t stop listening to Vianova’s new album)
•watching my girls grow up into wonderful humans
•never posing for a photo with @jadecasson without pulling a silly face.

2026. Let’s see what else we get up to.

The world got a little smaller this past week. @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic played our first show on the other side of the world, in Zhoushan, China. We got to experience the incredible unifying nature of music in a way we never have before: bringing people together across borders; across oceans; across cultures. Thank you @guantou_can for inviting a humble Post-Rock band from the UK to grace your stage.

While the experience was incredible, it wasn't without its challenges. Thank you to my amazing brothers in Din of Celestial Birds for your support while I dealt with some stuff back home. I know I can always count on you guys, and I'm tremendously proud of you all. I can't wait to see what comes next.

Thanks also to Jody and the team at Can Festival for being fantastic hosts.

Most importantly, thank you to my amazing wife Rebecca for your continuing support, and my incredible friends Jay and Sarah for holding down the fort at home so I could enjoy playing at being a rock star for a few days.

Take 2.

/// Light comes out in 4 days, so we better get on with our THANK YOU's.

First off @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic; our musical brothers in arms. What started with an Instagram message praising their EP1 and its ability to drag us through the dark days of various lockdowns has blossomed into becoming gig buddies, friends and now collaborators. Thank you BIRBS! 🐦🐤

Next up @dutchelmne; discovered through a @weareripcord records charity compilation called 'You Matter', on which the lads held hands down the best song, we knew we had to bring them to Manchester, more shows and a impromptu recording attempt in the damp backroom of a Derby venue proved a fruitful and funny addition to the album. Here's to the UKs beat heavy math act, Thank You!.🇳🇱🌳

@newghostband have released one of the records of the year in "A Dagger In Every Tide", it's an honour to be riding in the wake of the same. Definitely a band who are more than the sum of their parts, and those parts were already excellent. Thank You New Ghost!👻

Last but not least today is @josh.gardziel from @weareloemusic. There's a story to be told about where and when Josh recorded his contribution to /// Light, but for now we'll just revel in the joyous counterpoint it provides and acknowledge how amazing it is to have one of the musicians from one of the best post rock albums of recent years pitch in on our little record.
Thank you Josh, see you tonight 😉

More Thank You's tomorrow.

Pre-order /// Light now via the link in our bio.

Latest instalment of I go to too many gigs.
I’ve seen some amazing music in the last month and still more coming up.
I don’t want to be that person, partly due to British internalised guilt surrounding optimism and not being humble, but if this isn’t ‘living your best life’…I look forward to how good that’ll be. Because this is alright.

Bands and artists are:
@aptbs
@colinstetson
@asiwyfa_music
@big_brave_
@scowl40831
@aptbs again, because there was no way I wasn’t including that amazing in the middle of the audience primal noise chaos
@deamatronaband
@moeldk & me yelling
@otobokebeaver
& your friends and mine: @dinofcelestialbirdsmusic
