It’s the last Thursday of August and, as you’re probably starting to know by now, it’s time for our monthly 1Month1Technique challenge video! 🎥😁

This month, we’re focusing on kokyu nage, a throw that comes in many (many!) different forms in the Iwama style. So choosing just a handful to show you wasn’t easy! 😅

Luckily, we could count on our instructors and senpai to give us a great glimpse of this diversity: Olivier, Benoit, Victor, Line, Eric, Bruno, Magali, Laetitia, Paul and Christophe. 👏🥰

We’ve wrapped up the photos from our kids and teens classes, but we also wanted to share 2 video edits ☺️
This week, we’re starting with a video from Christophe’s class 🎥

Maybe just another way to get a glimpse of what children experience on the tatami, between focus, energy, and the simple joy of practicing 🙂

* * * * *

We continue our series on kids classes at the dojo 😍👧👦
For children, just like for adults, the instructor always takes the time to demonstrate the techniques before students practice them.

It’s not just a memorization tool, it’s also a key part of learning: developing the ability to carefully observe (feet, movements, hands…) 👀✨

And honestly, it’s always heartwarming to see the youngest ones discover and start mastering the basic forms of attacks: tsuki (punch) and shomen uchi 🥹

We continue our series on kids classes! 🧒🥋
One of the key learnings is how to fall properly, especially through forward rolls — which are quite different from those in gymnastics.

Learning how to roll well is essential to feel comfortable receiving techniques, and it’s also one of the best ways to protect the body during throws 🤸‍♂️✨

That’s why every class includes a dedicated rolling sequence, no matter the age of the children! 💪

There were 13 of us from Tenchi last weekend at Yasuhiro Saito Sensei’s seminar in Turin, organized by Stefano di Carlo’s dojo 🇮🇹
And it’s fair to say the weekend was excellent and full of emotions 🤩🤩

A wonderful energy on the tatami, and the joy of training alongside practitioners from many different countries 🌍

Another highlight was the official presentation of the nidan diplomas for Laetitia and Silvère, and the shodan diploma for Léana 😁
And of course, the truly brilliant sandan examination of Christophe!! 👏🏻🥳
