Fantastic weekend celebrating a collective milestone birthday with high school friends in Rehoboth Beach. Haven’t been here in over 30 years. Brings back fond memories. And we're still the same 18 year olds at heart.

To inspire and empower the next generation about your calling and your service is one of the greatest honors we can achieve in life.

So grateful to have served as a fellow at @harvardiop in 2016 and amazing to return for our 60th Anniversary celebration last night.

From the surprise shoutout to the pure joy from the undergrads, from the laughs when seeing your people to the conversations well into the evening about the future of our Democracy, Thank you @harvardiop, the @harvardkennedyschool & President Kennedy's family for always showing that we can do more for our country.

Yes, that's a real photo of me not having a Beard when my fellow Brotha from The Bronx @dnice came to campus as a guest speaker :)

Thank you to Taufiq Rahim @taufiqzrahim, Senior Fellow at @newamericaorg; Ambassador Chris Lu @chrislu44 , former U.S. Representative to the United Nations for Management and Reform and distinguished professor at @uvamillercenter ; moderator Rekha Shanmugam of @ajplus; and Subhah Agarwal @subhaha for joining Network 20/20 and @unmuted.fyi for United We Fall: Should the U.S. Leave the UN?

The debate examined competing perspectives on whether the United States should leave the United Nations, including U.S. financial contributions, the effectiveness of UN institutions, efforts toward reform, and the potential consequences of withdrawing.

Taufiq Rahim presented the case for investing U.S. resources elsewhere, while Ambassador Lu drew on his experience negotiating UN budgets and pursuing reform from within the organization.

We are grateful to our speakers, moderator, partners at @unmuted.fyi, and everyone who joined us for a lively and thoughtful exchange on the future of U.S. engagement with the United Nations.

A new office. A new chapter.

Settling into my new home @harvardiop. Still a little surreal seeing my name on the door.

Office 178 is officially open!

Walking through President John F. Kennedy’s old rooms at Winthrop House. A little Harvard history that most people don’t get to see, so I wanted to share it with you. A pretty special moment. 🇺🇸❤️

Should the United States leave the United Nations—or would withdrawing ultimately weaken American influence? 🇺🇸🌎

🎟️ Early-bird tickets are available through Wednesday, September 16!

Join Network 20/20 on Tuesday, September 22, for United We Fall: Should the U.S. Leave the UN?, an in-person @unmuted.fyi debate in New York City.

➡️ Click the link in our bio to get tickets and learn more!

The United States is the UN’s largest financial contributor, yet concerns about institutional effectiveness, peacekeeping, representation and the pace of reform continue to raise questions about the value of U.S. participation.

Could withholding U.S. funding create meaningful leverage for reform, or would disengagement weaken American influence and allow countries such as China to play a greater role?

The event will feature:

🎤 Opening the evening: @subhaha, NYC-based comedian, writer and actor.

🎙 Arguing for: @taufiqzrahim, Senior Fellow at @newamericaorg and strategist specializing in global geopolitics and technology.

🎙 Arguing against: Ambassador Chris Lu, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for Management and Reform and Distinguished Professor at @uvamillercenter.

🎙 Moderated by: Rekha Shanmugam, News Planning Producer for @ajplus at @aljazeeraenglish.

📅 Tuesday, September 22

🚪 Doors open at 6:30 PM ET

🎤 Program begins at 7:00 PM ET

📍 New York City; exact location provided upon registration

Was a great night to wrap up a busy and spectacular AANHPI Heritage Month at the Museum of Chinese in America @mocanyc. A packed audience heard from our first Asian American elected to Congress from New York, Grace Meng @grace4ny, Mark Takano @marktakano39ca, the first openly gay person of Asian descent in Congress representing the 39CD in California, and Ambassador Chris Lu @chrislu44, the first Asian American to hold the position of Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations for Management and Reform, and only the second Asian American in history to serve as deputy secretary of a cabinet department, after Elaine Chao.

This was an inaugural event of a new speaker series, “MOCA Forum” and the panel shared personal stories and anecdotes about the Chinese Exclusion Act, Japanese incarceration, recent hate crimes, prohibition laws against Chinese nationals from purchasing land, and the commission to eastablish a National AANHPI Musuem. It was a much needed discussion on the history of discrimination against Asian Americans and how government plays a vital role. The forum was moderated by NBC News Congressional Correspondent Scott Wong @scottwongdc, who suggested this conversation as part of AANHPI Heritage Month.

Sorry had to slip out early but many kudos to MoCA President Michael Lee @gniken and board members June Jee and James Jian Hu for a terrific event.
