POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We were given this issue in a 2-car garage where the existing garage door landing was taking up much of the space needed for the second car to park. The stairs were wider than necessary and located on the side wall. There was also the corner post under the garage landing supporting the landing itself which would cause a hinderance to a second car pulling in too.

We trimmed down the stairs and moved them to the back wall. We then used structural, threaded rod to support the outer corner of the landing up through the ceiling above, instead of supporting the landing with posts below. (Don’t worry, we also gave attention to the frame work, put new decking down on landing, installed additional lag screws into the two wall sides of landing, jumped around on landing a good bit, and proceeded to do pull-ups off the new black iron railing.) This threaded rod has been hidden in the black iron pipe work that we used to dress up the landing with a industrial look while keeping it functional as a very, very strong railing. This allowed much more space on the side of the garage for the second car to pull in as well as much more depth for the car to pull in since it can go right under the garage landing with the absence of the old support post.
Great outside the box thinking by @Tim Wooten and help making this a quick and successful project.

Some photos of the Locust sunroom project wrapped up and getting its final inspection. What a huge difference from the covered porch it once was! #sunroom #coveredporch #mulligandesignbuild
