Today marks 3 months of me being home from my mission, I definitely slacked a bit on posting about it, but I just want to take a minute to let y’all know how grateful I am for the opportunity I had to serve as a missionary spreading the word of Jesus Christ in North Carolina for 2 years! My testimony and my knowledge of the gospel have grown so much and I can’t even start to explain how grateful I am for my Savior Jesus Christ. I know he lives and I know he loves every single one of us individually and perfectly! p.s. sorry to all my companions who I didn’t post, I only had a limited number of slides but I love Y’all too! #ncrm #wwjd

In the Book of Mormon, 2 Nephi 22:2 reads:

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

My mission has not been anything that I have expected or anything that I at first wanted. But when I put my trust in God, I saw His promises be fulfilled and blessings pour out into my life. I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know that He is my strength and my song. I can promise each of you that as you take the time to remember God you will be blessed. He loves you and He has a plan!

So grateful for kind people… like these two cuties! We went to Charlotte for Disney on ice and left Gus at home all day. We asked our ward missionaries (very last minute) to help out. They said yes immediately, it was such a relief and a blessing. I’m so grateful for Missionaries and for other kind spirits. #latterdaysaintmissionary #kindness #blessings @christfirstnc

When we learn to honor ourselves, we also honor our God.

I’m grateful for healing. I’m grateful for my body. I’m grateful for a loving Savior.
I’m grateful for my family.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to share my story and I’m grateful for the opportunities I have to help and serve others.

When we switch our mindsets and realize that truly our worth is immeasurable, that you in fact are priceless, deserving, worthy.
When you begin to show up as the person you were meant to be even before you’ve fully become that person… powerful and truly miraculous and amazing things will happen to you, your life and those around you.

Happy Sunday. Here’s to all of all working diligently to become the better versions of ourself. This not only effects us directly but leaves a generational impact for our posterity.

Keep doing to the work. You are capable and worth it. ❤️

Matthew 22:37-39

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

For such a long time I would only focus on the first half of verse 39 “love thy neighbor” I would try and try to give of myself but was pouring from an empty cup. I was burnt out and why?

I had neglected the second half “as thyself” no wonder I was burnt out. I had nothing to give because I wasn’t putting in the effort to love myself, I was spiritually malnourished.

I feel like there can be so much guilt surround around self care and it’s 100% unnecessary.

This one verse of scripture shows us the importance of self care. When we can love ourselves we are then able to love others properly not to mention the times Christ went away into the mountains to mediate and have personal time with God.

Self care does not = self absorbed. It means you are taking care of yourself properly and then you can help your neighbors to do the same in whatever capacity that looks like for you.

Throughout this journey of becoming healthy I have had many eyes watching. Not everyone has understood my goals and that’s absolutely okay.

I’ve shared this process on purpose with purpose to help anyone that feels stuck or maybe even hopeless in their health like I did KNOW that you can take action and change. You don’t have to stay unhealthy and it will only happen when you’re fully ready to commit to YOURSELF.

With the world of observing eyes watching me the ones that matter most are of my children’s.

Some things I’ve learned along the way.
- the journey doesn’t need to be perfect but it does need to continue
- to build a healthy relationship with food
- to appreciate my body and all that it does for me and to treat it respectfully. How? For me it’s through spiritually staying connected to God, fueling it properly and progressing with my mental health
- Learning my worth

Here’s what my kids have seen.
- me struggle and not give up
- learn to love myself more therefore I can love others more
- more patience
- me being able to play with them like really play with them
- dance around crazy and not get tired

What I see? Happy, more quality time. Laughter, them making better food choices, learning their worth.

And the end of the day what anyone outside my home has to say is irrelevant. My children are my reflection. The more I thrive they will also.

When my little girl says mommy I want to be strong like you- that’s everything!

All the hard work, the tears, the undoing negative self talk. Everything was/is worth it!

We need to lead by example. Our children are our mirrors. I’ve learned a lot by watching them and fixing myself was part of the process.

Where you are on/in your journey- yes people will absolutely watch you. People will absolutely have comments. Some people will cheer you on while others secretly hope for your failure that is ALL on them.

This journey is for YOU. For YOUR health. Don’t let anyone take that away from you. Put those blinders on and push ahead knowing it won’t be perfect but it will 100% be worth it. Your attitude and behavior will set the tone for your future posterity make sure it’s one you’re proud of. ❤️
