● a very good question. what do you think? ☆

🎥 credit: @christhegardner

● peace & BLACK AUGUST salute. i've been fasting & processing a few things. every summer i rewatch a slew of documentaries & clips from my BLACK AUGUST youtube playlist. so far including:

• IDA B. WELLS
• AFENI SHAKUR
• ASSATA SHAKUR
• LISA "LEFT EYE" LOPES
• DR. SEBI
• dream hampton
• ZORA NEALE HURSTON
• SISTER SOULJAH
• WINNIE MANDELA
• GEORGE L. JACKSON'S MOTHER
• KATHLEEN CLEAVER
• MARCUS GARVEY
• "WHO KILLED BLACK COMEDY?"
• "WHAT HAPPENED TO BLACK REVOLUTION? (1977)"
• "HOW LOWER CLASS BLACKS BECAME THE FACE OF THE BLACK COMMUNITY"
• BLACK AUGUST & HIP-HOP CULTURE CONCERTS (heavily organized, hosted & promoted by women) °

● i don't want to answer the question up top more than i want to keep doing my part in making it a reality + making its obstacles obsolete or ineffective. however i do notice something with the "SPEND DAT" controversy, decades of black women in modern music, racism still being documented in 2026, what i've witnessed in corporate spaces & adding up the patterns of history in only the last 100 years ☆

● there is a deep case of "everyone knows who we are but us" at hand, in most cases. yet with black women specifically, there's an added layer. the world has historically benefited from us not only as physical mules & cultural blueprints but from our intelligence, resourcefulness, creativity, competence, over functioning, ability to lead & impact community. endless examples including the names above show the repeated attempt to contain us. why? maybe (also) bc this deep value affects men & children. containing us keeps entire nations contained. raps & all ☆

● be whoever you want. question everything. don't ever stop studying. my BLACK AUGUST youtube playlist & explainer blog in my link in bio. peace ☆
