magical Moroccan desert adventure with my family 🐫🇲🇦 This week was the longest we’ve all been together in the past five years and it was sooo much fun. The sibling bond is like no other - I don’t know what I’d do without my bros. They’re my favorite audience and still laugh at all my jokes (they must really miss laughing the rest of the year when I’m not around 😉😄) thanks for the best memories and the refresh on all our weird inside jokes ❣️

In the middle of the Cold War, Bee Bloeser witnessed individuals and nations on opposite sides of an ideological divide joining hands to rid the world of a killer virus. Accompanying her husband to Nigeria and newly independent Equatorial Guinea as he worked to eradicate smallpox, she was awed by the workings of a public health campaign. It was a time when humans knew they had to join hands if they were to win against the microbe.

A retired speech pathologist and award-winning writer, Bee Bloeser has lived and worked in Africa, the Middle East and Native American nations. Her experiences are chronicled in her recently published memoir, VACCINES & BAYONETS: Fighting Smallpox in Africa amid Tribalism, Terror and the Cold War.
