Save the Date! Herzliche Einladung an Albumins und Studierende: Do, 05.11.26, 18-19.30 Uhr, online zu Vortrag mit Q&A: Christl Mudrak. Eros.
#professionalisierung Abschluss - was dann? Students of the New Media 1 studio at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague present artistic works created during a several-day workshop in the forest. Light, sound, plants, wildlife, the non-human perspective. Can a beetle sing? Does light attract a fox? Where did the pine tree learn to dance?

Making Art. Making a Living. Making It Up as You Go.

Genau solche Begegnungen begeistern mich besonders.

What may appear today as an inconspicuous wooden shed or even weekend home in the forest, turns out to have been a barrack connected to the tragic and non resolved history of forced labor, exploitation during the Nazi rule.

The barrack found in Christl’s forest in Brandenburg is such a leftover, built as a temporal structure that still exists today by coincidence. It hints us to the forced laborers that from 1941 onwards were „used“ on a large scale also in the construction of the German Reich autobahns. Most of them snatched and brought to the German Reich, they were dehumanized and looked at as sheer material. Also this shed housed people that had to work on construction sites on the nearby highway, in the forest and the gravel pits, under harsh conditions and separated from their families- and their life’s. An estimated number of 14 million people were exploited. Their fates mostly unknown.

This „blob“ or whatever you wanna call it, made from dough is a comment on this overlooked history, an uncanny gesture, a mutation or a nest, the beginning of a longer research.

With the help of my love Christof, thanks to Christl Mudrak and the whole team of the Forest Research Project!

What Burns, Remains / Co shoří, to přetrvá

Tomáš Hrůza, Bronislava Bakule Malá, Forest Research Platform

The 2026 exhibition programme of Entrance Gallery is based on an ecological understanding of the forest as an interconnected organism in which trees, fungi, soil and microorganisms create networks of sharing, cooperation and memory. The programme is inspired by forest ecologist Suzanne Simard’s book Finding the Mother Tree (2021).

The exhibition What Burns Endures explores the disruption of forest ecosystems – particularly in the aftermath of fires, logging and the colonisation of landscapes, but also the possibilities of subsequent regeneration. The works on display address the critical state of forests following fires and other destructive events. The exhibition presents a collective project focusing on the transformation of forest landscapes in the Czech Republic, with particular emphasis on the 2022 fire in Bohemian Switzerland National Park, and on the stories that unfold between the destruction that has taken place and the difficult process of recovery that follows. The exhibition features photographs, paintings and video recordings from the field. The gallery space is complemented by a spatial intervention in the form of a wooden structure evoking a forest shelter – symbolically offering refuge from the forces of nature, as well as from the difficult questions surrounding human management of the natural world.

Opening: Thursday, 3 September at 6 pm
Exhibition: 4 September – 3 October 2026
Curator: Veronika Čechová
Entrance Gallery, Jugoslávských partyzánů 7, Prague 6
Opening hours: Thursday–Friday 2–7 pm, Saturday 11 am–6 pm
