Artwork and screeningtable for FLATTEN THE CURVE, a video marathon within the series „The Time That Remains“

20-21 September 2025, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

@juliastoschekfoundation & @filmwerkstattduesseldorf
Curated by Lou von der Heyde @_louvdh

„The Time That Remains“ traces the origins and ongoing relevance of video art in North Rhine-Westphalia, bringing local and international perspectives into dialogue. Its title references Giorgio Agamben’s eponymous essay on messianic time - a present that does not proceed linearly but is shaped by interruptions and residues. The video marathon „Flatten the Curve“ extends this inquiry as a local snapshot of video art’s „Jetztzeit“, where historic works meet current production. The format is founded on parity: brief pieces, arranged in series, numbered, and separated by black frames - creating a shared surface on which differing contexts and generations can speak to one another.

thanks to everyone involved 💙

@guentherium @clementinseedorf

Möbius constructs fictional worlds by combining his sculptural and literary practices. His sculptures take the form of architectural and stage-set models as well as figurative character designs. His writing often adopts the formats of alternate history or fanfiction. In his work, he incorporates the areas of spatial memory, anarchitecture, and level design.

This marks Günther Möbius’ first solo exhibition since his graduation and will remain on display through 18 October 2025.

Gabbi Cattani (b. 1990 in Rome, Italy) lives and works in Frankfurt am Main. He graduated from Städelschule in 2024 where he studied in the class of Gerard Byrne. Through performance, video and installation, he incorporates family archives and personal objects to explore how narratives are constructed, inherited, appropriated and preserved. In his practice he often adapts literary works as film-vignettes and tableaux vivants in which desire and the representation of sexuality hold a central role of aesthetic reflection.
Recently his work was shown at CCA: Center for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow; MEWO Kunsthalle, Memmingen; Return Gallery, Dublin; Mediterranea Biennial, San Marino; Castello di Rivoli Museum of Contemporary Art and OUTPOST Gallery, Norwich.

Cecilia Mangini (b. 1927 in Mola di Bari; † 2021 in Rome, Italy) was an Italian documentary filmmaker, screenwriter, and photographer. She is considered the first Italian documentary film director of the post-war period.
Mangini began her career as a film critic: from the early 1950s, she wrote reviews for leftist film magazines such as Cinema Nuovo, Cinema ’60, and Eco del cinema and began to collaborate with her husband and filmmaker Lino del Fra and Pier Paolo Pasolini on her own documentaries and feature films.
In her work she explored the transformation of a rural, agrarian, and religiously influenced society into an urban, industrialized, and secularized state during the 1960s and 1970s, highlighting the lives of women, the poor, workers, and children in particular.

‘Two become one‘ – magazine as a result of a 4-hour workshop with Christopher Tröster @christopher.troester (who also provided us with these pics of the result 🙏). The students were each given two individual stories, which they combined with the instruments of editorial design. The aim was to produce as many variants as possible within the given time and then reduce them to two double-page spreads. These were placed one inside the other in an open brochure with an individual order.

The magazine was printed at the print workshop of the faculty and will (only) be shown at @standderdinge_fbg exhibition from 26–28 July 2024 (in the Baumraum).
