As someone who has written 9 plays representing women by giving them a voice for sexual assault cases and turning to theater and the stage to address these issues— where governments and police systems have effectively decriminalized this crime with wait times over five years even with evidence (Victims Commissioner for England and Wales explicitly reports from initial report to a verdict is a staggering average of 2,307 days ..over 6 years..with only 2 to 3 per cent of cases ever ending in a conviction and only 16% reporting), with police officers and prosecuting attorneys telling women it’s best to “move on” as it won’t go to court even if they wait the years and where friends peers institutes society verify the woman’s (or man’s) credibility on the principal “did she go to the police” .. that the small rare cases that do get to court have a moral ruling of guilt but where legal guilt is set up to protect the perpetrators with no comprehension of how trauma impacts or rape myths (all addressed in my plays)——- this is possibly the biggest practical legislation change I’ve seen on policy in my life time.

Up there with statutory maternity pay (1986) criminalization marital rape (1991) sexual offense act, domestic abuse act for coercive control (2021) NOW the specialist rape courts fixed trials (2026)

Shout out to all fellow activists who take on this work daily and as we support one another’s endeavors. Special mention @drproudman @righttoequality a trailblazer for these matters in the UK @handbagsnhorses @gisele_pelicot @suziemillerwriter

To all the audiences especially men who’ve been to my shows, who’ve sat so uncomfortably and confronted these intense issues— to the uk police officers and SARCS that have come to the plays, to all the actors and teams on productions worldwide who have held and shared their own trauma to go to the heart of the matter.

Together across the country all the work of thousands of activists made the difference.

Il m’avait dit : “It’s just a question of time before something good happens. I am sure of it.”
Il avait raison. 🙏

Ce n’est que le début d’une longue et belle carrière.
L’acteur est incroyable, et l’homme l’est tout autant. 💎

Next project coming soon… Un grand Merci à Constance Demontoy et @josephineaucasting 🙏
