I have started and stopped this so many times. But there’s no way to sum up almost two decades being close to Andy.

Kong. I love you. I always have and I always will. I think I have felt every single shred of every single emotion in the time that I’ve known and experienced you. The most powerful one though, is love.

Besides being extremely creative and talented, profoundly genuine, so fucking effortlessly cool, radically inclusive, weird- but not for weird sake, the list goes on… you forced me to slow down and be present. I can’t count the number of nights it’d been 4:30 in the morning, and I was so fucking tired, but you would need me to just wait!! “Listen to this one last record!!” And I would.

Andy had an infectious way of pulling you into his world which was far more interesting and magical than any world I’ve witnessed. He encouraged me in a way that forever changed my life. He taught me my first drum beat, he taught me how to go on tour with our DIY band. He made it seem like everything was possible, and it felt like it was, as long as we were together. He will forever be unforgettable, and even though I’m so gutted I don’t get more time with him, I realize how lucky I am for all the time we did have: way too many hilarious memories, insane stories, near death experiences, etc., that I will cherish forever.

Kong, I wish you were still here for so many reasons, but right now I wish I could just give you a big long hug. You are always so good at that. I miss you and I love you so much Andru Creature, King Dong Dorky Kong💔

Last night was a classic Lummi Island night. Native son, @christopher_nunn_ and his band serenaded us at the Beach Store cafe stage while children played (that is his nephew who spontaneously climbed on stage), friends ate, sipped, hugged, chatted, danced, and Mt. Baker glowed across the Hale’s Passage. The whole evening was in memory of beloved islander André Brewer. RIP dear friend. #music #christophernunn #beachstorecafe #lummiisland
