The Writers Grotto Open Mic at Lit Crawl!

Grottoites gathered together at the @writersgrotto sponsored open mic to listen to stories that touch on: Bad dates, bad marriages, primate bosses, vacations spent in airport lounges with putrid smells, malevolent ancestors. These stories are embedded with human drama and often humor, and the author benefits from the therapy of writing them while readers treasure the rich experience along with a mirror into their own substrata.

Thank you to our zfeatured readers (@thesusanito and @eleanor.vincent ), our Grotto readers (@nateog , @swethaamit , and @christopherdcookwriter ) and to the wonderful and brave guest readers, some of whom have not read in front of an audience in a long time or ever. Thank you to @litquake and to @Et al. gallery for creating and providing space for us.

Last night's Dialogue: Grotto Nights at the Library event at SFPL was wonderful! Though Eirinie and Jess couldn't join us due to illness, our amazing Christopher Cook stepped in at the last minute, sharing powerful poetry of resistance. Thank you to everyone who came out to support! #WritersGrotto #PoetryOfResistance #SFPL

The Writers Grotto turns 30. We know how to party! Saturday night at the Verdi Club was all that. I love this community so much!

Bonus that I got a picture with my adorable family (EXTREMELY rare) and see my son and pals volunteer.

A big thanks to all who made the event happen.

✨ What a night last night! ✨ I was so honored to emcee the 30th Anniversary celebration for @thewritersgrotto, an organization that has shaped my professional writing life in countless ways. 💛

We had incredible food (yes, there was cake! 🎂), an interactive timeline, a photo booth, custom cocktails 🍸, and dancing 💃🕺—but the real highlight? Celebrating this milestone with so many brilliant writers and friends at the stunning @verdiclubsf.

Cheers to @maryladdsf & the party committee, and everyone else who helped make this unforgettable night happen! Here’s to 30 more years of literary excellence, creativity, and community!
