“In contemporary times, ‘camouflage’ refers to a visible threshold between what can be seen and understood and that which eludes detection and perception. Camouflage can serve as an act of concealment or a visual ruse that masks presence, hides intent, and leverages the dynamics of how one is perceived and positioned, in order to gain specific strategic advantages.”

The sculptures by Toni Graton (@toni_graton), Christopher Miles (@christophermilesstudio), and Julia Isidrez (@juliaisidrez) engage with the concept of camouflage in distinct ways, entering into a dialogue with the environment of Room 08 at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (@museuoscarniemeyer).

The exhibition Camuflagens is on display in Room 08 at the Oscar Niemeyer Museum (@museuoscarniemeyer), in Curitiba, until November 15.

It's been an honor to not only be graduating with a BFA in ceramics, but also play a role as a treasurer for the most memorable and vocal community that I have been a part in, which is the one and only Ceramic Arts Club at CSULB! This studio has provided me all the things I needed to grow as an artist, which is a place to be productive, learn new approaches to working with clay, and most importantly, to bond with my colleagues and enjoy every moment with them. I will most definitely miss leaving this college, but I will never forget the joy and talent of every person that I have come across in the studio, and I cannot wait to see what they bring to the table when I revisit it someday!

I’m still riding high from @nceca in Detroit 🖤 The conference feels like a family reunion for clay enthusiasts — and being in that community fills me up. I reconnected with fellow makers and met new ones. I left inspired by the work, the exhibitions, the makers, and the endless possibilities of creative expression with clay. Seeing my own work in the annual exhibition Absence Takes Form @wassermanprojects was so cool.

It was my first time in Detroit, and I was pleasantly surprised by the artsy vibe and the nice balance of city and suburbs, with spaces for artists to thrive. Anyone have studio space for me? 😊

Until we meet again next year in Baltimore, let clay feed our curiosity. #nceca2026 #potters #ceramicartists

Recently got my degree in the mail 🤯
Sad that its over, but grateful that it happened 💔❣️
Stoked to be part of @csulbceramicartsstudies legacy as a BFA student. Proud of myself for sticking it out & for all the things I learned about myself. Happy to have meet so many amazing, creative & caring ppl. Cheers to my friends & peers who have also graduated or will be graduating soon ! 🍻
Thank you to Chris Miles, Tony Marsh, Chris Miller, Claudia Solorzano, Nicki Green, Katie Grinnan, & Bryan Crockett - your support, feedback & encouragement will never be forgotten. Being able to be in a creative space with these folks as a student will have a lasting impact on me as an artist, a person and maybe even future educator ! 🥲

⭐️ Excited for what’s to come :-)
