Jeanette Davis, (Mama D) moved to our community in 1979. She was a mother to me. I’m so grateful to have been able to spend so much time with her 🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼. https://www.homernews.com/2026/02/26/jeanette-adell-davis/#cult #homeralaska #backtoearth to earth

Children of East End: The Phoenix (E1) sets the stage for a deep and evocative documentary series. In the early 70s a loosley formed group of ‘Back to Earther’ visionaries joined forces with a homesteading family on a mission to escape European war time tensions. They formed an unintentional commune in the Alaskan wilderness.

One of the original artists of this group, Brad Hughes, (1946-2024) paints a mural that sets the town on fire; igniting a conflict between our community, lead by one of the a Fountain of the World ‘Barefooters’ and the followers of the ‘Jayhawk Nazi’ or ‘Kansas Hitler’ in the peaceful community of Homer, Alaska.

It is with great joy that I am releasing the first episode of Children of East End. I’m so grateful to this beautiful land, community, my parents and especially my beautiful, wise, loving mother who brought me into this world and has always been so supportive of my creative endeavors. I am so grateful for her patience with me as I dug deep into old wounds that were deeply personal in order for me to heal my wounds. In particular, for this episode, she suggested I interview Brad Hughes. Thank you to Brad for sharing his brilliance, beauty, insights, joy and wisdom with me.

***If you feel inspired, your donation allows me to: film, edit and produce more episodes.

Looking Back at My Filmmaking Journey: Part 4

What I Learned:
Malignant was a major creative leap. You grow when you take risks. This film taught me to trust my instincts, especially when the story challenges both the characters’ sanity and my own comfort zone as a director.

"Malignant" (2018) --- Set in a surreal luxury hotel, the film follows Scott, a man who has waited 30 years to confront the ghost of his childhood. The psychological weight of the story pushed me into new territory—visually, emotionally, and structurally.
