Me & my girl & my girlsss 😍🥰💕 Today was a good cheer day! So proud of all the girls and especially my baby girl 🥹 she delivers a show and kill it every time effortlessly 🔥I know she get tired of me drilling cheers at home even after practice 😂 but cheer don’t stop when mommy the coach and she handles the role switch up so well! She just hold all the spoil brat stuff until we get home 🤣 my Lonna boo with her flips and splits🤸🏾‍♀️amazingggg 🔥 understands the assignment every time and never disappoints with a show🤗 and my little cousin J’Viah eats the dance floor each time leaving no crumbs with a energy unmatched 🔥 every girl on the squad has something to bring to the team and I love it 🥰

Words can’t even say how proud I am 🥹 My girls showed up and showed OUT todayyyy!!! Literally had happy tears from parents in the crowd so proud of their babies 🥰 Nobody do it like them Divaz! For days I’ve tried to think about the perfect words to describe our captain, Nysia. 🤔

She’s the only 8th grader that has been on the squad for 3 years, the entire time she’s been a student at MLK. Then, I started to think about all of her contributions, what she has accomplished as a cheerleader. Then it dawned on me. 😱 💡

Today, the 8th grade cheer spotlight goes to Jerdaisia!🤩 She made the squad as a 7th grader but would come to practice acting silly - EVERY DAY. 😩 I dealt with it for a few months. Finally, I had to tell her, “You got ☝️ one more time to disrupt practice and you gotta go!” Jerdasia: Okay. 🤷🏽‍♀️ 1.7 seconds later she cracked a joke and wouldn’t stop laughing. 😩😩 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Me: “Lil girl!!! Please leave and don’t come back!” 😡

Fast forward to the 1st week of this school year. We had a fire drill. I’m trying to keep my class together and here comes Jerdasia. 🙄 “Hey, Mrs Watson, I’m scared of you.” Me: “Why?”🤔 Jerdasia: “Just give me one more chance! I promise, I’ll be good.” I gave her another chance and I’m soooooooo glad I did. 🙌😊 After taking the time to just TALK to her and LISTEN to her, we became the best of friends.💙💙 I’m not gonna miss the 9,000 times I got a text or phone call from Ms Scott, Mr Murray or Mr Thompson saying, “Come get your girl! She is lighting 🔥🔥 the 8th grade hallway allllll the way up!” 😩😩😩😩😂😂😂😂 I’d have to drop everything and literally run 🏃🏿‍♀️ to the 8th grade hallway to find my lil best friend standing outside her class.
Me: What happened?!! Jerdasia: “Cause nah! She ain’t gone tellllllllll ME where to sit! I didn’t sit there yesterday! That’s dead! Not me!! 🤨 Nahhhh! Just because I came in late!” Me: “ Ummmm . . . She issssss THE teacher and this is HER classroom.” Jerdasia, thanks for being so creative, making up dance routines for the team and texting me at 3 AM talking about how we wanted to jump “Rona” for cutting the cheer season short. 🤣 Most importantly, thanks for teaching me to NEVER give up on anyone.
I luv you, lil baddy and you got me by your side until you graduate from high school. Coach’s promise. 💙💙 #congrats 🎉

Today, the 8th grade cheer spotlight goes to Shertiyah!! 🤩
This one right here 👆🏾👆🏾causes me to have 3 strokes and 20 heart attacks back in the Fall. But through it all, she made it.💯 She might be the smallest person on the squad, but she has more heart than the entire team put together. Bottom line, Lil Mama ain’t scared of NOTHING!! 🤷🏽‍♀️ She gives the pep talks before practice, and will continue to practice even when she’s not feeling well.
She gives those fierce facials during every comp and she’s the Ace, the one that leads the performance stroll shared by @hbcubuckdown that received over 109,000 views.

Thanks, Shertiyah, for 2 solid years of dedication to your team. Continue to be fearless, feisty and forever that person that leaves it alllllll on the floor EVERY 👏🏾 SINGLE 👏🏾 TIME!

Today’s MLK Titan 8th grade cheer spotlight is Michaeyla AKA Kayla!! 🤩
She lives 6,899 miles from the school (just kidding) but is the most dedicated! 🏆

When we have Saturday or Sunday practices, she has to get up extra early in order to be ready when I pick her up. And she’s ALWAYS ready. I cherish those long rides to and from the school when I ask her opinion concerning cheer situations. She always gives excellent advice.
Honor/scholar roll?? Oh yeah. She does that consistently. 📚 I can always count on Michaeyla to be well behaved and set a good example for the other girls.
But don’t let the smile fool you. 😁 She’s VERY protective of her cheer sisters and will stand with them no matter what. 😂😂 So, the MOST DEDICATED cheer award 🥇 🏆 goes to Michaeyla H. Gibson!!!👏🏾 Keep shining, darling. ✨✨ 💙#classof2020🎓

Today, the 8th grade cheerleader getting the spotlight is . . . Traniyah Chiles. 🤩

Traniyah is the cool, laid back, easygoing cheerleader 📣 that prefers to stay to herself.

Then, out of nowhere, she’ll put her phone down and start a looonnngggg conversation about something that happened in one of her classes. 😂

Traniyah: Mrs Waaattssonn.
Me: Yes
Traniyah: Guess what Rayshawn did todayyyy??
Me: I don’t know him but what did he doooooooo!!!!🤔🙃🤪 She waited until her 8th grade year to try out for cheerleading. And when she saw her number posted the morning after tryouts, she was beyond excited! She practiced hard to cheer with varsity making it clear, “I’m NOT gonna cheer with the 6th graders!!!” Thanks for those long conversations before practice started. Thanks for being soooooo mature and drama free.

Today’s 8th grade cheer showcase is . . . Jayla Johnson. 🤩

Mannnnn, Jayla and I fought almost every - single - day!😩 Weeeeeewwwww Chile!!! 🥴

She kept the squad laughing allllll of the time!!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if one day she becomes a successful stand up comedian. Her athletic ability goes beyond cheering. Her ticket could easily be related to track and field, running 🏃🏿‍♀️ the 100 or 200 yard dash in high school, college and even the Olympics. Yeah, she’s fast! 🤷🏽‍♀️. Or, you just might find her running a Fortune 500 company or becoming a best selling author. 📚
Definitely, the sky is the limit for Jayla Johnson. Bottom line . . . everybody 👏🏾will 👏🏾 know 👏🏾 her 👏🏾 name! 👏🏾 Period! Oh, it will happen. And when it does, remember, Coach Watson told you so. 🙃

Now that school is officially over, it’s time to individually showcase those amazing 8th graders. 😃
First up is my birthday twin, my FAVORITE! Lol 😂 Aniyah Walton!!!! She’s the calm one, the one that rarely talks but always smiles. She’s the one that does those perfect toe touch jumps at every game.
