Some days I feel like me
I do my hair, put on something I love, catch a glimpse of myself and almost forget.

And then there are painful days.
Where my body reminds me that feeling good and “being okay” aren’t always the same thing.

Chronic pain has a way of stripping away your beauty, not canceling it, just complicating how you feel about yourself. I can feel strong and fragile at the same time. Confident and fatigued. Present and hurting.

This is what people don’t always understand:
looking well doesn’t mean feeling well.
And feeling “myself” doesn’t mean I’m without pain.

Both can exist. And both are real.

Truth be told: Living with chronic illnesses is like carrying an invisible boulder on your back. When you do all the everyday things people around you are doing, no one can see how much more exhausting ot is for you. So rest as much as your body, mind and soul needs, and be proud of every small accomplishment.

When the mind of a hard worker & the spirit of a hustler is placed in a disabled, chronic illness body. This is what it looks like. Fighting every day to finally get back to a place where I can just be like the average "able-bodied" person. The hardest thing about it all is having to constantly remind people that just because you look "normal & just fine" doesn't mean you can do half as much as they can. The constant self- advocacy can be draining.

There's so much I want to do, but my body slows me down every day. Still... I don't give up. I still wake up every day, telling myself that today will be better than yesterday. Because if I don't believe that, then I will start giving up on myself.

Life is meant to be lived and that's exactly what I will do. Live it. I will not just exist. I'm going to actually live & enjoy my life.

This condition may slow me down, but it will not stop me. So, if you have read this and you're dealing with a challenging obstacle, promise yourself that you won't give up either. We will win, my friends.
