🏉 One award. One brilliant decision. One brand-new rugby kit. Something special happened at TackleLondon training in Chislehurst last week. For the first time in the school’s history, the girls arrived in a dedicated rugby kit in their school colours. 💙 And the story behind it starts with Freya. After receiving a Jack Petchey Achievement Award for her contribution and achievements, Freya was given the opportunity to decide how the accompanying grant could be spent to benefit her peers. She chose rugby. More specifically, she chose to put it towards a new kit for her school’s TackleLondon rugby sessions - something her teammates and future pupils could all enjoy. What began as recognition for one young person has become something the whole team can share: a kit to represent their school in, take pride in and carry forward. 👏 We think that’s a brilliant example of what can happen when young people are given the opportunity not only to be recognised for what they achieve, but to give something back to the people around them. A huge well done to Freya, and a big thank you to the @jackpetcheyfoundation for creating those opportunities for young people across London and Essex. Now, we can’t wait to see the girls take their new kit onto the pitch throughout the season. 💙🏉 #TackleLondon #GirlsRugby #RugbyForAll #JackPetcheyFoundation #YouthSport Rugby GirlsInRugby LondonRugby

🏉🏆Our Girls Foundation Player of the Year: Freya🏉🏆 Freya was awarded our Foundation player of the year this year. She has been remarkable. First picking up a rugby ball last year, she has thrived in all aspects of the sport. She attends her after school club sessions, without fail, every week - she is hard-working, has a brilliant attitude, and gets on well with everyone; forming wonderful and uplifting friendships. Freya goes the extra mile; arriving early, and always offering to help out with pack away and if coaches need any help with anything etc… the little things that make a big difference. Freya has improved so much in 12 months - She has developed great game awareness and understanding, she is a quick learner and also a great tackler - absolutely fearless! Her determination sets her apart. Outside of the school scene, she has joined @dartfordians_girls_rugby and has had a successful season, winning a number of kent cups at age grade level. Freya also attends the Matt Ratana development academy sessions every Tuesday and is an effervescent part of every training session. Well done to Freya on an outstanding year! @tacklelondon @chsfg_pe
