The Danelle Project Artist Spotlight: @chstnts ✒️🙌

You may have been wondering where in the world is Chestnut (aka Joe)? Well, he’s back. And we couldn’t be more excited about it.

Chestnut’s style is inspired by 1930’s cartoon art but has serious human emotions that are expressed through what he’s thinking or feeling.

Originally his art story started with graff (which may or may not have been illegal 🤷‍♂️) and sticker culture - crediting @nxoeed for looping him into the Valley’s local scene. As he notes, everyone loves stickers! He also notes that “everyone loves art”, and it’s safe to say we love his art… You’ve likely seen his work all over town including his landmark art exhibition “Good Grief” at @foundrephx.

“Digging up my Skeletons” (2022), located at the central project building, includes his famous character, ‘Nova’. You may not know this, but the install was painted on site, directly onto glass. Most of the project murals were painted on wood panels, so this one was a particularly interesting experience for Chestnut - not to mention he nearly died of heat exhaustion! 😅😫 A little Gatorade and snack helped to finish this piece and we’re so grateful it’s here!

See it while you can at Danelle Plaza on the east side of the building.

Everyone say hi 👋 to @chstnts!
