2019 got funny. And intense. And a little bit weird. I learned to let go of things I would’ve previously held on to until fingers were lost. Not all things, but things big enough to merit a little back-patting. All digits intact. I spent less time being paralysed and liked myself a bit more often. Gave the self-destruct button inside my head a rest with relative, albeit not absolute, success. A lot of the healthy I tried to subscribe to was probably cancelled out by the party zombie ways but I’m claiming points for effort anyway. 2019 was split into two movements and the first one was significantly more belligerent than the last; the angry before the dealing with it. And look, I’m not saying I’m coming out of it unscathed but I’m feeling something that’s pretty damn close to inner peace and if you know me at all, that’s a big win. I saw places I’d never seen, met good people and got to catch up with friends I spend a lot of time missing (the miss went on with others). I went to Pride with my mama and I boogied to the B-52’s with two of my all-time favourite humans. I danced at weddings, birthday parties, house parties, bars, clubs (yep), festivals, pool parties, gigs… You can’t ignore the not-so-great but there’s been an eye-opening quality to 2019 that’s made me extra thankful for the good, the friends, the family (blood and not), the feels, the occasionally extraordinary and the year I get to look forward to. So, here’s hoping you’ve got yourself some inner peace and a 2020 to be excited about. And thank you to those who’ve made life special – you know who you are. Love, love, so much love. 👊🏽⚡️🖤🥂 #2020 #readyornot #brandnewdecade #soberinatleasttwopics
