🔥 SCA Roasting Foundation + Intermediate | Sydney and Melbourne Australia’s Coffee Roasting Championship has introduced a new preliminary format this year — one that puts the fundamentals back at the centre. Competitors will work with mystery green coffees, evaluate the coffees, develop roast profiles, cup the results, and make roasting and blending decisions within a limited timeframe. Before chasing a “winning profile”, we first need to understand: 🌿 The green coffees in front of us 🔥 How heat transforms the coffee 📈 What to observe and control during roasting 👃 How roast development translates into cup 🔄 What to adjust in roasting and blending based on sensory feedback Our upcoming SCA Roasting courses focus on building these fundamentals through hands-on roasting and blending exercises: Green Coffee Analysis → Roast → Cupping Evaluation → Adjust For Intermediate intake, I’ll also include a short competition-inspired practical session, working with unfamiliar coffees through sample roasting, sensory evaluation and blending decisions. 📍 Sydney @chuckcoffeeroastery 📅 12–13 October Roasting Foundation(Online)+ Intermediate 📍Melbourne @TinmanCoffeeRoasters 📅 4–5 November Roasting Foundation 📅 4–5 & 11–12 November Roasting Foundation + Intermediate 🎓 Globally recognised SCA Roasting Certification program will also be available for learners ready to go deeper into roast profiling, control and sensory-driven adjustments. Suitable for new roasters, baristas moving into roasting, and anyone wanting to strengthen their roasting fundamentals before exploring competition roasting. Minimum 4 participants to run👤👤👤👤 Check link in bio or DM for course details or registration. ☕
