Deeply grateful to be included in @bonappetitmag best new restaurants list, and honored to be included with such stellar company. Thank you to everyone on the BA team that took the time to get to know us.

The reception to @lei.wine has been beyond my wildest imagination. Lei is very personal, a dream that’s been many years in the making. It’s also a tribute to my sister, Hannah Lei Shi, who passed in the South East Asian tsunami almost twelve years ago and who dreamed of leaving finance for hospitality.

That was the starting point but the team at Lei is what gives this little wine bar on Doyers Street life. They’re what makes Lei delicious, warm, a good time and the place you want to come back to again and again. Special thanks to Patty and Matt who give their all every day and to the neighborhood of Chinatown, which we’re so proud to be apart of and tbh is half the magic.

And thank you to our guests, who love us for what we are, whose wine orders are ratios of at least 2:1 bottles to guest, and who appreciate the vision of simple Chinese dishes made with care and great ingredients.

An accidental theme emerged while looking back at the best things we ate in June: 🐟🦀🦞🦪

Shrimp, mussels, crudo, lobster rolls, oysters... plus one very cold martini and a mousse with crème fraîche enjoyed at golden hour.
