🎨 Rising of Sisters’ Island by SERIAL CO_ @serialco_

The exhibit visualises the narrative of the two devoted sisters Minah and Linah who braved a violent monsoon storm to escape pirate abductions, ultimately transforming into the iconic Sisters’ Islands, which function today as a vital marine park for marine biodiversity and coral conservation.

These striking animal sculptures are crafted with fabric scraps, work garments, and the discarded cloth of daily life. Shaped by students from Cora School Recycling league, the installation pays tribute to the creatures that share our island and its mythologies.

The second weekend of #SGNightFest brought a whole new wave of after-dark experiences! 👀✨

We watched Southeast Asia’s best projection-mapping talents light up The Cathay (@cathaymalls) at the inaugural 𝘔𝘈𝘓𝘈𝘔 Projection Mapping Competition while Festival Villages brought even more to explore after dark - 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 @ 𝘈𝘳𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘵 ignited a world of myth and wonder while 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘪𝘴𝘦! gave rise to mythical activities and nocturnal discoveries. 🌙

The Singapore Night Festival is back, bringing our historic Bras Basah.Bugis precinct to life in a new light ✨

Spent some time exploring the Museum Zone and @peranakanmuseum’s Festival Village along Armenian Street. The projection mapping on the iconic façade of the National Museum @natmuseum_sg, Tales of Earth and Sea, was quite a sight, featuring visuals by an Indonesian multimedia artist team @thefox.thefolks and an original soundtrack by Singapore’s @playwithartusik, in collaboration with Malaysia’s @utimmusic.

Over at the Peranakan Museum, The Great Mythical Stampede by @chunkiefilmhouse offered a creative take on Southeast Asian folklore and mythology. Next door, the Children’s Museum @ilovecmsg was buzzing with energy for their Open House. It was nice to see children discovering local legends through music, storytelling and sensory play - and spotting the giant oarfish. 🐟

Thank you to the Little Ambassadors for the warm welcome, and to the @sgnightfest team and Festival Director @qazimkarim for showing me around.

: Making up for lost time at the Singapore Night Festival! After missing past editions, I finally made it down a couple of times this year to explore “Where Legends Unfold”.

It was an absolute sensory treat!
Choose a weekday night for a quiet, uncrowded experience and to truly immerse yourself in the light installations. Choose a weekend night to experience the vibrant festival activities and crowds in full swing! 🥁

What would you look out for in this year's @sgnightfest?

This year #sgnightfest2026 focuses on Myths and Legends, and how many of Singapore's stories do you actually know of, and also understand? Do you think the Night Festival managed to give an accurate representation of the stories? 🤭

Starting off strong with one of the few main light projections, Tales of Earth and Sea outside of @natmuseum_sg ❤️ I recall seeing lion and Sang Nila Utama in this projection mapping! What else did you see?

Moving us to outskirts of @smuartsfest is Vikings of the Tropics ⚓
.
I think one thing that was quite funny when I was there, is people actually questioning: "Singapore got vikings meh?" I mean true ah, as a Singapore geek, I also wonder eh! Anyone knows the answers? Do we really have vikings back then? 🫣

Further down, outside of @peranakanmuseum, we are greeted by these bunch of neon lighting mystical creatures in The Great Mythical Stampede! 🦄 (I'm sure that's not a unicorn, it doesn't have a horn)

What are some of the icons you see here?

Honestly, not a place that you will see a projection mapping everyday. I'm so happy that it was activated and used for really spectacular work!
