Tim Barry is one of those artists I can always count on. From the 90’s with Avail to his solo acoustic / singer songwriter albums, always quality songs. I remember in the early 2000s when I got word that Tim had released a solo demoI somehow got in touch with him via email, which wasn’t easy. I remember him apologizing because I believe he said he was living in a shed or something at that point in time and wasn’t much of an email guy. I still have that CDR that i sent him $5 well concealed in an envelope. Now here we are, probably close to 23 or so years later, and I’m holding in my hands his latest album which includes amazing vocal contributions from his young daughter Lela Jane. Times change but his vocals still sound strong and lyrically he’s still got it (I can only imagine how great the crowd sing-along will be for a lyric like “I fight dirty for my family”). Over the handful of solo records Tim has started to expand musically , including some electric guitar and a bombastic rhythm section behind him, or some somber piano that works well with his deep & powerful vocal. @_tim_barry_ @chunksaahrecords #nowplaying #timbarry #avail #punkrock #singersonwriter

Clear Blocks Ahead // 2026 release w @chunksaahrecords

First pressing, @evil_greed edition// clear with white & black splatter// 125 copies

"Will you hold my hand in the grocery store?
Will you stand beside me,
When I'm feeling awful reckless?"

Tim Barry used to sing for a band called AVAIL, who were incredible, but when I first heard he was doing folk punk, I think I was like 21 maybe? I was obsessed with Chuck Ragan at the time and he was coming out to Australia on The Revival Tour with Tim, Dave Nichols and Frank Turner. I'm not sure I've cried so much seeing a set of songs performed.

If you don't know any Tim Barry, I'd say start with Rivanna Junction, but specifically "Dog Bumped" and "Avoiding Catatonic Surrender". He's an incredible story teller and performer, really wish he would come back here at least one more time.

THE BOUNCING SOULS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A BAND FOR THE FANS.

Thirty-plus years in, and they still mean it.

In the middle of a tour, they found the time to sign 'Born To Be' and get it into the Riot + Reverie Six-Month Archive.

No big production. Just a band that still gives a damn.

SHIP THIEVES Irruption LP (Chunksaah) $17.99 Blue Galaxy Vinyl

The latest and 4th LP from this band; earlier records were CHRIS WOLLARD & THE SHIP THIEVES, THE SHIP THIEVES, and the first on a label other than their hometown's No Idea. As part of the BOUNCING SOULS/HOT WATER MUSIC family and diaspora, Chunksaah seemed an obvious fit. A SHIP THIEVES track appeared on a limited Chunksaah 10" celebrating Fest FL, also in their hometown. A great recording given the gift of time; having months of mixing and mastering and pondering this past strange year for music. 10 Tracks on Limited Edition Blue Vinyl.

BOUNCING SOULS Comet LP (Chunksaah) $21.99 Orange Vinyl

Although The Bouncing Souls have been a band for over 2 decades they seem bigger today than ever before. They've managed to gain new fans while keeping their original base, a formidable following that feels more like a family than a fan-base. With high expectations set by critics and fans alike, The Bouncing Souls headed into the studio with Bill Stevenson (Rise Against, The Descendents, Hot Water Music) to craft their highly anticipated new album “Comet”. The result is easily the bands strongest, most anthemic material to date. Translucent Orange Vinyl. Limited Pressing. Sealed

Available in the Rat Town Records Estore, Ebay and Discogs Stores Now. FREE DOMESTIC SHIPPING on All Orders of $100 or More. Follow the link in our bio.

On special request to @sillygirl_vinyl Tim Barry-Clear Blocks ahead LP on @chunksaahrecords This is the German @evil_greed variant limited to 125 copies on milky clear with black and white splatter.
Ok, what should I write about this record? I have been a big fan @availrichmond fan since the mid 90s , 4 am Friday and Over the James have been two of the most important records of that time period. I still remember when Avail played the last time in my city supporting Lag Wagon at the @livemusichall_cologne , maybe around 2005?
So there is a new @_tim_barry_ out now. I have listened a lot of times to this, and I like it better with every spin. WW Pool is such a great song, let alone for the the line: I fight dirty for my family. oi oi oi. And all the Dixie reminiscing parts like Richmond too RVA. Last song sums it up perfectly. Thank you for all the songs. Thanks Tim. Oh yeah. I mailed you about a European tour for @availrichmond. I never heard back, but I still hope this will happen someday sometime. You would make a lot of people so happy and proud to see you one last time. You still have a very strong fan base in Europe ❤️
