Today was another good day for Issa Safe Space!

I had the absolute pleasure of delivering a workshop on Rest & Boundaries at @irieminde9

And what a beautiful group of women! 🥹

We laughed, we reflected, and we had some really honest conversations about what it means to rest and set boundaries.

Not just with other people, but with ourselves too!

Because let's be real, sometimes we're the ones ignoring our own boundaries. Saying we'll slow down, then adding another five things to the to-do list. Feeling exhausted but convincing ourselves we can push through just a little longer...😒

We explored the different types of rest, how our bodies tell us when we've reached capacity, and why rest is about so much more than getting eight hours of sleep.

And what I really wanted the women to leave with was this:
1. You do not have to reach breaking point before you give yourself permission to rest.
2. You don't have to finish everything first.
3. You don't have to justify needing a moment.

Sometimes the most important boundary you'll ever set is the one where you decide to stop pushing yourself beyond your own capacity.

A massive thank you to @irieminde9 for inviting me and to every woman who came along, shared her experiences and contributed to such a meaningful conversation.

Yesterday Pat McFadden, Secretary of State for Department of Work and Pension, visited @chwfmind.

He sat down with service users and Mind programme facilitators. They discussed the need for and importance of quick mental health support to enable people to stay in work or return to work.

People shared how important it is to look after your mental health and be able to take time out and return to the workforce. Especially if they are living with a long-term disability or mental health problem.

We shared with him what you've told us.

We said we want to see a system that provides security alongside support, where young people can test out work without the fear of sudden income loss, where personalised, trust is the norm, and where mental health needs are properly understood and responded to.
