POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sometimes you just have to ask. And sometimes, God will remind you why He put it on your heart to ask in the first place. ❤️

The @ldbactorssymposium Actors Symposium coming to Detroit was so much more than an acting intensive for me. It reminded me why I love storytelling, creativity and community.

Leah and @chynalayne POURED into us. And I mean poured. There were 25 actors in that room, and somehow each of us was seen, heard, challenged and given thoughtful, honest feedback.

Nothing felt rushed. Every moment was accounted for. They even went beyond the scheduled time to make sure we received what we came for.

Leah brought the perspective of an experienced #castingdirector : honest, direct, funny and real. She challenged our choices and gave us feedback we could actually apply.

@chynalayne an amazing actress herself, brought another perspective, helped lead the room and encouraged us to think deeper and make stronger choices. They genuinely wanted us to leave better than we came. And I did.

This weekend reminded me that storytelling is bigger than any one medium. It’s how you listen, understand people, pay attention to details and recognize the impact of the choices you make. Whether you’re building a character, developing an idea, creating an experience or communicating with an audience, it all connects.

My time at @plcdetroit has strengthened that perspective too. And sometimes, the dots connect years later.

Years ago, through @stewarttalentchicago I had the opportunity to audition for a project Leah @ldbcasting was casting. That was my first introduction to her work. Years later, I’m learning from her again, this time in Detroit.

Relationships matter. #Community matters.

It was also great meeting @shiekmahmudbey @shiekstudios and having another acting coach’s perspective in the room. And flowers to @briansullivantay1or @detroitdramastudio who continues to pour into me as I sharpen my craft, stay connected to creative community and grow as a #storyteller

And Detroit showed up. ❤️ There is so much talent and creativity in this city, and being in a room full of creatives learning and getting better together meant everything. Chyna, stressed the i

I’ve gotta say that it’s a shame for #TheOvalOnBET to end after one of the GREATEST seasons of #TylerPerry television! The show could’ve gone on for as long as a soap opera because there was the option to constantly rotate the sitting President every 4-8 years and incorporate elements of real-world politics.

What could’ve been…am I right?

Crazy to think that is the first Tyler Perry series that I reviewed from top to bottom (on YouTube)! Seriously, I reviewed EVERY SINGLE EPISODE on my channel.

I didn’t start doing #TheHavesandtheHaveNots videos until Season 3, #SistasonBET is still ongoing (besides I skipped 3 episodes in Season 1) and I didn’t review all of Bruh Season 3.

To think that I was ready to call it quits after Jason killed Jean in the Season 1 finale; and no I am still not over that!

Well, Tyler has that White House replica on his studio lot meaning that he has to use it again for a future project. Here’s a few spoofs: Madea Runs for President, Mr. & Mrs. Taylor Go To Washington, The First Ladies Club, If Voting For You Is Wrong, White House of Payne, Love Thy President, Impeach In The Black, etc.

Sad to no longer see this amazing cast on Wednesday nights, BUT I’m hoping to see them appear in other Tyler Perry Studio projects.

My one hope is that maybe just maybe when Ruthless gets to its final solo season, the creators work together on one combo-mega final season where BOTH The Oval and Ruthless closeout with a bang! Tying up all of the various loose ends to give fans who watched since 2019 some much needed closer!

Yes, I have a massive video going over my ideas! I just need time to finish editing.

Now, I am onto the fourth movie in the series. I believe the short-lived TV series premiered after this installment as well. The title explains a lot as this movie is prequel in the series and received mixed reviews like the others as well.

Instead of LA and DC, this movie takes place in my hometown of NYC. The first purge takes place in Staten Island and goes in many places. First, this movie seems like a suspenseful thriller, then turns into an action movie in my opinion.

This one was entertaining and fun as it has a bigger environment to work with like the other sequels. If you're going down The Purge rabbit hole like I am, this is worth checking out on Prime Video and Peacock.

Precious on Blu-ray, directed by Lee Daniels on a screenplay by Geoffrey S. Fletcher, based on the novel Push by Sapphire, starring Mo’Nique, Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, and Gabourey Sidibe in her feature film debut.

Precious is a well acted and directed endeavor, and it’s very successful at tugging at the heartstrings, but the film is definitely not for everyone and an acquired taste. It deals with sensitive topics like rape, abuse, domestic violence, incest, and bullying, so it’s not a film for the faint of heart. If you can stomach it however, it’s worth a watch, particularly for the Oscar winning performances.

The Blu-ray is rough looking in the video department but that’s by design given the world Precious lives in. The fantasy sequences are robust and colorful though. Audio is full and dynamic, with audible dialogue and music and clear sound effects. Extras are overall very satisfying. #bluray #bluraycollection #bluraycollector #blurayaddict #blurayjunkie #leedaniels #tylerperry #oprahwinfrey #geoffreyfletcher #sapphire #pushbook #preciousmovie #lionsgate #monique #paulapatton #mariahcarey #lennykravitz #gaboureysidibe #sherrishepherd #stephanieandujar #chynalayne #aminarobinson #xosharoquemore #angeliczambrana #auntdot #neallagordon #gracehightower #kimberlyrussell #billsage #susantaylor
