29 today. 🤍

28 gave me more than I ever could have imagined.

Love. Purpose. Community. Growth. Memories I’ll carry with me for a lifetime.

Looking back, I’m most grateful for the people who made this year what it was. Thank you for believing in me, supporting me, and growing alongside me.

Here’s to 29—continuing to build, love deeply, and embrace whatever comes next.

Cheers. 🥂✨

Also special shoutout to my girl @missxcultured who should be on slide 4 but we never take pics together! 😂🩷

More moments like this, please.
This week, @bukks and I came together through @mindcandybeauty and @adfricancollective to host Diaspora Beauty: Culture, History & Influence in D.C., and I’m still reflecting on how special the evening was.

A huge thank you to @tomidoingstuff, @michelawariebi, and @oyato for sharing their knowledge, stories, and perspectives so generously.

Endlessly grateful to Bukky for being such an incredible collaborator throughout this process, and to @rahamawright of @yeleenbeauty for graciously opening her doors and creating a space for these conversations to happen.

And of course, thank you to everyone who joined us, enjoyed the cookies from @tr3atsbyeliza and ice cream from @shugaxice and helped make the evening feel so warm, engaging, and community-centered.

My heart is full. 🤎

This week, Mind Candy Beauty and Ad-frican Women’s Collective brought Diaspora Beauty: Culture, History & Influence to the DMV for an evening of thoughtful conversation, cultural exchange, and community.

Hosted at Yeleen Beauty Makerspace, we explored the rich intersections of African beauty and Black American beauty—unpacking the histories, influences, traditions, and innovations that continue to shape the beauty industry today.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible panelists, Tomi Talabi, Michela Wariebi, and Blessing Adeoye, for sharing their perspectives, experiences, and expertise so generously. Thank you as well to Glamazon Beauty and Bloombox for providing gifts for our attendees, and to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful dialogue.

Special thanks to Rahama Wright and the team at Yeleen Beauty Makerspace for opening their doors to us, @tr3atsbyeliza for the delicious treats, and @shugaxice for keeping us cool with African inspired ice cream throughout the evening.

The conversations sparked in that room reminded us that while our experiences across the diaspora may be distinct, there is so much power in coming together to learn from one another, celebrate our cultures, and honor our collective influence on beauty.

Until next time 🤎

Follow our intern @chynamariah._ as she takes you inside the 3-day Black Beauty STEMinist Summit at @spelman_college. For Black women currently shaping the beauty industry, and those aspiring to enter it, this is a space rooted in access, innovation, and legacy.

As the first HBCU with a cosmetic chemistry program, Spelman College is actively redefining pathways into the beauty industry and placing Black women at the forefront of it all.

At the annual Black Beauty STEMinist Summit — created by Dr. Leyte Winfield (@drleytewinfield )— Mind Candy Beauty spent three days in conversation with students, cultural leaders like A’Lelia Bundles (@aleliabundles ), and the emerging voices shaping what comes next.

Our founder @lyric_christian also moderated a panel on opening day as part of the weekend’s programming.

The future of beauty is very bright!

More coverage from the summit continues tomorrow.

💕💜Absolutely honored to host the @thecolorvision Creators Luncheon again this year. The incredible organization @itsmiajdavis created continues to open doors and build bridges for women of color in media and beyond.

This work is particularly important now. As I navigate my own professional transition, being in that room felt like a reminder of what’s possible when we pour into one another. Community really is our greatest currency. 💛

I’m also very proud of my Spelman Sisters who were awarded scholarships this year. Keep striving loves! 🩵
