SHOW ME YOUR SCARS

We had such a powerful time talking about scars during the men’s session in Düsseldorf last weekend.

In John 20, Jesus appears to Thomas and invites him to touch His scars, the very marks of His crucifixion. Thomas responds in awe, declaring, “My Lord and my God!” This encounter reveals something powerful: Jesus used His human scars as evidence of His suffering and journey, to authenticate His divine identity and process to Thomas. They were not marks of weakness, but of authentic experience, truth, and triumph that inspire faith in others…. (If I was Jesus I would’ve called down fire 😂).

Scars are evidence. They testify to the battles we’ve faced and the grace that carried us through.Just as Jesus’ scars testified to His sacrifice and resurrection, our scars are evidence of God’s faithfulness in our lives.

From a leadership perspective, Thomas represents those we lead; our families, teams, employees, congregations and communities. He was not inspired by a flawless leader, but by one who was real, vulnerable, and whose scars spoke of genuine experience.
 If you hide your scars, you don’t inspire....you intimidate. No one can relate to perfection, but most can understand evidence of process.

And for men especially… It can take a lot to open up in a culture that calls for vulnerability but still promotes pressure for perfection. I’m grateful for men who choose to be real, who dare to be authentic, and who inspire faith through the evidence of their scars.

Your story matters. Your scars are evidence.

Mankind still needs evidence that Jesus is alive….and your scars are proof.
