CIEN AGAVES . . . What a great night with some great food at Cien Agaves. I wish I could put into words how good the guacamole with pomegranate pearls was. Still dreaming about it!

🚨 NEW IN CHANDLER, AZ 🌮🍹

@cienagaves is officially OPEN in Chandler and this fully scratch-made kitchen + bar needs to be added to your girls’ night, date night, taco Tuesday, basically-any-excuse-to-get-margaritas list. 😂💃🏼

Mariah and I clearly understood the assignment:

🥑 El Trio | $16
Bottomless chips with pork queso fundido, salsa + guacamole. Starting strong.

🍹 Margarita Flight | $22
Because choosing one margarita felt unnecessarily responsible.

🌶️ Jalapeño Cucumber Marg | $12
🔥 Habanero Lime Marg | $12

And then… ALLLLL THE TACOS. 🌮🌮🌮
Taco Trio Plates are $20, and after some very serious research, Mariah crowned the birria taco her winner while I am firmly Team Shrimp Diablo. Spicy. Saucy. SO GOOD.

And because we believe in finishing what we started…

🍨 Churro Sundae | $8
CHEF’S. KISS. 🤌🏼✨

📍 Cien Agaves Tacos & Tequila
900 N 54th St, Suite #1
Chandler, Arizona

Send this to your favorite taco + tequila partner and add one of Chandler’s newest restaurants to your list! 🌮🍹💃🏼

Tacos, tequila and the tenacity to keep going when business gets tough. 🌮

On the newest episode of Earn It, Jen sits down with Roque Jimenez, co-founder and owner of Backbar Hospitality, the locally-owned restaurant group behind @cienagaves, @ghostranch_az and @nellosahwatukee.

Roque shares the realities of nearly two decades as a restaurant owner, how he’s grown three distinctly different concepts and what he believes gives a restaurant true staying power. He also shares why he chose to invest in PR for the recent Cien Agaves Chandler opening and the value he sees in earned media and influencer coverage when launching a restaurant in a new market.

Tune in to hear Roque’s hard-earned advice for aspiring restaurant owners, the reveal of his favorite tequila and the story of how Taco Tuesday helped save Cien Agaves during the Great Recession.

Listen now wherever you get your podcasts! 🎙️

I look forward to Arizona Restaurant Week every time it rolls around because it gets us doing something I want more of in our food scene: getting out, trying restaurants, talking about chefs and filling dining rooms.

I love the special menus, obviously. But more than anything, I love the reminder that supporting our culinary community is something we actually get to participate in.

Every reservation is a chance to show up for the people making Arizona a better place to eat.

Restaurant Week makes trying somewhere new a little easier.

For 10 days, restaurants around Arizona put together special prix-fixe menus, typically at $33, $44 or $55. Maybe it’s the restaurant you’ve had saved for six months. Maybe it’s someplace you’ve driven past a hundred times. Maybe it’s a chef you keep hearing about but haven’t experienced yet.

The value is fun, but the real opportunity is discovery.

Because one Restaurant Week reservation can turn into the restaurant you bring your friends back to again and again.

Restaurants are so much more than places we go because we’re hungry.

They’re where we celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and promotions. They’re where we bring people visiting Arizona because we want to show them what our city can do. They’re where a random dinner can turn into one of those nights we talk about for years.

So yes, sometimes I want to dress up, make the reservation and turn dinner into the whole occasion.

Those nights matter too.

There are restaurants where dinner isn’t the thing you do before the night starts.

Dinner is the night.

The room, the energy, the food, the cocktails, the service, all of it becomes part of the experience.

And those experiences don’t happen because of one person. There are entire teams behind every night out: chefs, cooks, bartenders, servers, hosts, dishwashers, managers and owners all working together to create the few hours we get to simply sit down and enjoy ourselves.

That’s worth showing up for.

Restaurant Week shouldn’t only be about finding the newest place in town.

I think it’s just as important to go back to the restaurants that have been taking care of us all along.

The neighborhood spot that knows what it
