POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s been a quiet season, but not a stagnant one!

Moving to ATL for my GRADUATING semester meant leaving what I built at Cal and knowing I’ll never return to it in the same way — that included my job in Athletics and internship with Football.

Everyone knows how hard it is to break into sports and I finally felt like I was making it happen. Because of this, I was so scared that my forward progress was going to be slowed due to me leaving, but it was everything but!

Not only did I continue (and finished) my thesis which centers athletes (which is the first time ever approved to do so while not in residency I may add), but I also took 2 sports journalism classes at Morehouse (Sports Reporting & Play-by-Play), recorded an entire broadcast as both a color and play-by-play analyst, wrote 7+ game stories across 3+ sports, attended conferences and expanded my network, met amazing people, and developed skills I otherwise wouldn’t have had I stayed in my comfort.

I say all this to say, do the thing you’re most scared of doing! One of the panelists at one of the conferences I attended left me with this message and I want to leave you with the same: “Be openminded. Find comfort in the uncomfortable, because that’s where you grow. And don’t be afraid to move away from home.”

Thank you Atlanta 🤍🍑
