In this clip, Josh Parry, Managing Partner & CPO of Ciirus, explains why there is a limit to how much vacation rental businesses can automate.

Every operator works with different owners, properties, and operational realities. That complexity matters when deciding where technology fits and how much responsibility should be handed over to automation.

For property managers, the opportunity is to use technology where it improves efficiency and consistency while keeping the team involved in the parts of hospitality that still require context and judgment.

Growth can create pressure to keep chasing the next milestone, even when that growth starts pulling attention away from what matters most.

In this clip, Josh Parry, Managing Partner & CPO of Ciirus, explains how being independently financed has allowed Ciirus to stay focused on customer satisfaction, product investment, and long-term relationships without the same external pressure to scale.

For Josh, it ultimately comes down to one question: are the customers happy?

10 properties and 100 properties are two very different operations.

As property managers grow, their needs change. Their processes change. And their technology has to be able to change with them.

For me, that’s what scalability really means: not just features, but having a technology partner that listens and evolves with your business.

That’s the promise we’ve built CiiRUS around for nearly two decades.

Nearly two decades into building vacation rental technology, Ciirus is still focused on a simple priority: helping its customers build stronger businesses for the long term.

In our latest episode, Alex & Annie sit down with Vinny Dicarlo and Josh Parry of Ciirus to talk about how independent ownership has shaped the way they grow, invest in technology, support customers, and think about the future of vacation rental operations.

We discuss:
✅ Why Ciirus has chosen measured growth over growth at all costs
✅ Where AI and automation can help, and where human support still matters
✅ Why vacation rental operations cannot automate everything
✅ How operators can get more from the technology they already use
✅ Why customer and employee satisfaction are closely connected

If you are evaluating your tech stack, thinking about sustainable growth, or looking for more ways to reach guests, this episode offers a closer look at what a strong technology partnership can support.

If your PMS feels as old as the city behind me… it might be time for an upgrade. 😅

Technology should help your business move forward, not hold it back.

If you’re ready for a PMS built for where your business is going, let’s talk.

Send me a DM to know how.

There are two things you can always count on when I catch up with my Uncle Marco.

First, we’ll end up somewhere with a ridiculous view. This time it was Devil’s Dyke after lunch in Brighton.

Second, if I try to give him a compliment, he’ll immediately ruin it.

I introduced him in the video by telling everyone he’s built some of the best products we’ve ever had at CiiRUS—for both our customers and our team.

Without missing a beat, his response?

“It’s a lie. None of it works.”

After a bit of negotiation, we eventually settled on… “Some of it works.” 😂

That’s Marco in a nutshell. One of the smartest people I know, but with the kind of dry humour that keeps everyone’s ego firmly in check.

Growing up, he was always one of the family members I looked up to. Now we’re lucky enough to work together, argue about software together, and occasionally escape the office for lunch with a view like this.

Not every meeting needs a boardroom. Sometimes the best conversations happen on a windy hillside overlooking the English countryside—with someone who’s happy to remind you not to take yourself too seriously.

Thanks for lunch, Marco… and thanks for confirming that at least some of it works. 😅
