Did you know spinach is sweeter in the winter? For this past month’s Open Spoon we headed to @greenthingsfarmcollective, where Hannah taught us about overwintered greens, and then chef Zoe reimagined her family’s spinach pie recipe using fresh greens. Head to the link in our bio to watch the full episode and be sure to check out your local farm stops to find your own spring sweetness.

This months Open Spoon was a delightful potluck of local stories, nature, and food. Highlights:
🌿create your own arrangement to decorate your table using an assortment of native plants foraged by Trenton, and take your arrangement home after.
🥕an assortment of desserts with a crowd favorite being the mouth watering carrot cake made by Jo using @tantrefarm carrots.
🎤 A lovely collection of stories about a time they felt connection - with almost half of the stories being impromptu! One person said “I like that it’s not performative, it’s less intimidating and I will definitely bring a story next time” - and that is what this is all about: everyday stories rooted in lived experience.
🤔 After stories were shared, we shared the patterns we noticed and things that stood out to us. As we collectively philosophized and stitched together our varied experiences, it was so cool to see how different people noticed different things. Huge thanks to @washtenawfoodhub for being our venue sponsor - be sure to check them out for all your local food needs.

Stay tuned for a full update on our blog and save the date for the next full moon February 1st. 🌕🌝

“I am Huck Finch” (self titled) post 1 of 3.

A piece by me, for the company @huckfinch. They came to me and said “we always have people ask, who is Huck Finch. And now we can tell them it’s you, you’re Huck Finch.” With a crew of two (@cillavision and myself), we captured this character and brought it to life. Just us in the garage with our own gear, brought this companies vision to life. This video is a year old and I’m just now posting it.

“I am Huck Finch” (self titled) post 2 of 3.

Being a 90s baby I was very much into shows like “Zoom”, “All that” and “Bill Nye”. We already knew retro was the direction to go, but I decided to have fun with it and try to just build the set in my garage. It was fun and I couldn’t have done it all without @cillavision. Just us, a camera, a Hollyland and some lights was enough to pull it off.
