For today’s guest, after getting a letter to return for a follow-up mammogram, it felt easy to put it off. Summer was busy, life got in the way, and it didn’t seem urgent.
Three months later, the follow-up led to a biopsy. Then came the words no one wants to hear:

“Unfortunately, it’s cancer.”

Cindy had a strong feeling she needed to get screened for breast cancer.
When you have a “feeling” or hear that voice inside guiding you, don’t delay.

There are many different screening methods for various diseases; do some due diligence and talk to your health care team.

Such a beautiful evening at Museum of the Bible celebrating our nation’s 250th, her heritage, and the Bible’s undeniable role in shaping the lives of her founding fathers. The Bible’s impact on the men and women who have courageously led our nation throughout her history is without question the most profound influence that has preserved and protected her these 250 years. Praying for God’s blessing as we step into the days to come! 🇺🇸

One of the hardest parts of a cancer diagnosis isn't always the treatment. Sometimes it's feeling like no one truly understands what you're going through.

Support groups can change that.

Whether they're in person or on Zoom, connecting with people who've walked a similar path can remind you that you're not alone. Sharing stories, asking questions and simply being heard can make an incredible difference during recovery.

That same desire to help others feel seen inspired the book This Can't Be Happening. The title came from the words so many people repeat to themselves after hearing a life-changing diagnosis.

Sometimes healing begins the moment you realize someone else has felt exactly what you're feeling.

We had the incredible opportunity at our Discipleship Conference to hear from faithful women about what it truly means to follow Jesus: to die to ourselves and to go and tell the Good News of who He is.

We laughed; we learned; we worshipped; we were challenged; and most of all, we grew together as disciples of Christ.

So grateful for what the Lord is doing in and through the women of Highland. 💛

We are so looking forward to our Women’s Discipleship Conference coming up on Saturday, Feb. 7! Learn more about our phenomenal two main session speakers below:

Our first main session speaker is Cindy Janecka, a member of Highland and resident of Woodway. Cindy is an author and speaker with more than thirty years experience as a marriage and family counselor. She and her husband Darrell are parents and grandparents who have served in student ministry for three decades. They also partner with Legacy Family Ministries to mentor engaged couples.

Our second speaker is Melissa Sloan. Melissa and her husband of 31 years, Stephen, are members of Highland and love living in the heart of Waco. Melissa is a psychologist by occupation. As a volunteer, she leads a ministry to international students, connecting the local church with opportunities to support and care for them. Melissa loves spending time with Stephen, their two grown children, and their grandchild.

It was truly amazing how many lifelong friends showed up to celebrate Carey turning 90. His family went above and beyond, and it was great that the early-release copies of "Piloting Life" arrived just in time to send each of his friends home with a copy.

These women live with purpose. 🌸 Don’t get so caught up in the day to day of life 🙋🏼‍♀️that you forget to live out your purpose. We were all created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27), and as His image bearers, we live in our purpose when we reflect Him. 💞 @women.of.legacy #museumofthebible #womenoflegacy #women #purpose #womensconference #livewithpurpose
