The look that started it all. 🦋🎬 In a recent interview by @cinemaaustralia and @_meeles ,with @tracyboltonactor Featured in the discussion is this one look I had for my first set of headshots by @wayne_waples This was back when I was very fresh to the Acting industry in Perth, and I could never have imagined that it would be this headshot that would land my very first Lead Role in a feature film. A piece from my own wardrobe, a favourite of mine too, would turn out to be a signature piece for my character. Cast as ‘Harper’ in ‘Descent’ will always be an amazing time for my film career and I cannot be grateful enough to the team who got me there. @tracyboltonactor @scudleyfilms @nigel.goodwin.creative and all those involved.❤️ Link to the interview by Tracy and Matthew below: https://cinemaaustralia.com.au/2026/10/04/interview-tracy-bolton/?fbclid=IwVERFWAU8HupleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBwZG9mBWZkaWQWUQQCtDQ5hT__SI8B2iutLkVAFX4qunNydGMGYXBwX2lkCjY2Mjg1NjgzNzkAAR7mlDNMX2_cTUiEmRmYZbpRxZ-p7sXKQR4MlZxoqiV8D4de9CHU3LaqafP_Gw_aem_DvM6–PMgMIOzN2K6tT6bA

🚨 SYDNEY, WHAT IS HAPPENING?! 🎬🔥 We thought we were making home movies for our friends and family. Now we’re about to PACK OUT TWO CINEMAS! 😂 In less than 48 hours of tickets going public: 🎬 FIVE BY FIVE – 75% BOOKED! 🎬 ECHO 8 BEYOND – 85% BOOKED! And here’s the crazy part. We’re seeing people book tickets who have NEVER met us or been involved in our films! We’re now looking at upgrading to a BIGGER CINEMA if demand keeps growing! 👀 This is what grassroots, community-powered filmmaking looks like. No Hollywood studio. Just a bunch of crazy filmmakers who refused to stop making movies. 📍 Reading Cinemas Auburn, Sydney 📅 December 10 & 11, 2026 🎟️ GRAB YOUR SEATS BEFORE THEY’RE GONE! https://www.trybooking.com/au/event/1659272 @ifmagazine @screenaustralia @screennsw @cinemaaustralia @varietyanz @chrisminnsmp @tony_burke_au #Echo8Trilogy #AustralianCinema #WesternSydney #IndependentFilmmaking

Proud — and genuinely moved — to see TIBER featured in Inside Film Australia as we begin the journey towards Adelaide. 🇦🇺 “Marcus J. Cotterell stars as an art historian whose world is falling apart. After spiralling out of a job, he leaves Rome and takes a road trip through Tuscany with his daughter.” — Inside Film There’s something quite special about seeing this film, made independently between Rome and Tuscany, beginning to find its way to an Australian audience. I’m especially proud to share the screen with my daughter Uma Cotterell, making her film debut as Lucia. Making this journey together — both as Marco and Lucia, and as father and daughter — has given the film a meaning for me that goes far beyond the screen. Also very proud of Dominic Allen @anotherdom who directed and made all this possible, TIBER travelled to Cannes earlier this year as part of AFF Goes to Cannes, and will now have its World Premiere in the Feature Fiction Competition at the 2026 Adelaide Film Festival. I’ll be there in October, and I can’t wait to finally share the film with an Australian audience. See you in Adelaide. Thank you 🙏 @adlfilmfest ❤️🇦🇺 #TIBERmovie #featurefilm #AFF2026 #allforfilm #marcusjcotterell

🎬 SUPPORT INDEPENDENT FILM — STORM BIRD IS COMING TO WA at The Backlot this Thursday. There’s something special about seeing an independent Australian film on the big screen. These are the films that take risks, champion distinctive voices and remind us why independent cinema matters. But they need audiences to survive. STORM BIRD, directed by James Ivor, brings together James Ivor, Anthony Phelan and Serena Van Sandalwood in the story of a celebrated composer facing death, his working-class neighbour facing jail, and a sharp New York writer who form an unlikely alliance over one charged weekend in Far North Queensland. Come along, discover something outside the mainstream and, importantly, support the filmmakers who keep independent Australian stories on our screens. 📅 Thursday 17 September 📍 The Backlot Perth 🚪 Doors 6pm | 🎥 Film 6.30pm ⏱ 84 mins Indie film only has a future if we turn up for it. ❤️🎬 https://www.eventbrite.com/e/storm-bird-tickets-1998851261932

The Filmmaking Launchpad doesn’t stop with the productions created within the program. Filmmaking Launchpad student Stephanie Saunders recently joined the crew of Dead Centre, an upcoming Western Australian neo-Western feature directed by Emilie Lowe, as First Assistant Director. Beyond the classroom, our students continue exploring filmmaking through the wider Western Australian screen community. Experiences like these allow them to observe how larger productions operate, collaborate with other local filmmakers and further develop their craft on set. We’re always excited to celebrate what our students are creating and contributing to, both within The Filmmaking Launchpad and beyond it. Photography courtesy of @saltandhoneyproductions. Information sourced via @cinemaaustralia. This is an individual student outcome and opportunities such as this are not guaranteed. Industry roles are arranged with the relevant production and depend on the individual student and production requirements. The Filmmaking Launchpad is a filmmaking program delivered by TMT Education. Some incredible filmmakers and films here. Congratulations to all. Look at almost any film festival around the world in a given year and it’s often possible to see a theme emerge among the movies on the program. Sometimes it’s the result of careful curation, but it can also be entirely organic or a reflection of broader trends in the screen industry. Here’s hoping that last one is true of this year’s CinefestOZ program, which boasts a bumper crop of films showcasing the work of WA women. From a portrait of 90s indie rockers Jebediah to a documentary about para ice hockey hopefuls, Ben O’Shea speaks to five local filmmakers about their entries in this year’s program, running across the South West from August 28 to September 6. Full story in this weekend’s #STMPerth. 📸: Michael Wilson
