Jean-Baptiste Gauvenet, Mermaid, glazed stoneware, circa 1940–1950.

A striking example of French decorative ceramics from the mid-20th century, this elegant mermaid displays Gauvenet’s characteristic stylized forms and fluid lines. The rich green glazed finish enhances the sculpture’s sensual curves and timeless Art Deco-inspired aesthetic.

This year, I’m looking to Deco for inspiration.
lacquered finishes, sculptural metals, mirrored surfaces, deep woods, and richly textured fabrics.

These are the elements shaping the objects I’m drawn to and curating for - Shop The Edit. xx
