Next next weekend! 17th of April!
Link for tickets: https://link.dice.fm/oe3b432e1f79
Show at purgatory! Abendbrot will never die. This time it’s a fundraiser for a project I still can’t believe I am trying to pull off. As-well as just hoping to pull off another great show for the Abendbrot series.

This show will be hot, dripping and queer. I hope to bring the queer community together to dance their ass off for spring. Bands ranging from indie to experimental and a reappearance of poppy cabinet! And performance by Lucy Rosa Blanca and Smiling Beth

Tickets will be out soon!

Sunday at 7pm! Bug Jazz, Cities Unexpected Field, and bugeater 🐜

Bug Jazz was born in 2023 out of a creative exercise during a five-day-long improvised recording project in Upstate NY. The group had created a map of fictional island to 'play through', the Western half of which was inhabited by subterranean human-sized bugs. What might these bugs listen to? We figured perhaps some kind of atonal music bearing similarities to elevator jazz. Since these initial sessions, Bug Jazz has grown from a performance exercise into a recording/performance collective that blurs the line between live performance, recording, and mixing by playing directly through a 4-track tape machine. We aim for an aesthetic that's 40% spiritual free jazz and 30% Andrew W.K. 'the only thing better than a guitar solo is a guitar solo played on a guitar that looks like a slice of pizza’.

Cities Unexpected Field is a NYC based three-piece outfit featuring drums, bass, saxophone, and varying electronics. The band is made of improvisational musicians: Jonah Knapp-Wilson, Sam Kurzydlo, and Jess Belardi, who investigate and explore themes of community, agency, ritual, impermanence, and grief. C.U.F. reasons their way through harsh noise and frail dissipation to beg questions, pose answers, force perspective, and find context. After forming in the spring of 2023, they have traversed New York DIY’s threshold between music and performance art–from live scoring queer erotica to accompanying multimedia choreography.

bugeater Joey’s solo sound consists of electric banjo and singing. It’s generally elements you would expect in old time/clawhammer American folk with influences from screamo, metal, free jazz, and various Western classical and non-Western music traditions. Joey also plays in black metal band Offal Bloom.
