Let’s start the week with an introduction. This is bar mistress extraordinaries Mallery Heise. 😘😘😘
.
She is on the balcony of the Belle Isle Boat House talking about her invention, Hero’s Daiquiri, which she developed to pair with Elaine Castillo’s novel, America Is Not The Heart.
.
Not only is Mallery inventive and good with a cocktail, she’s studying biochemistry at Wayne State.
.
Plus she’s just one of the damned nicest people we know.
.
Stop into @theapparatusroom and say hi. Ask her to make you a drink you never even knew you wanted. Tell her a fellow Shady Lady sent you.

Still thinking about the “Hero’s Daiquiri” we had on Monday night. This cocktail packs a big flavor punch in a tiny glass! 💥🍹💥🍹
.
Bartender extraordinaire Mallery Heise of @theapparatusroom developed this drink for Elaine Castillo and her novel, “America Is Not The Heart.” Mallery channeled the flavors of Philippines, using purple yam, coconut milk, rum and lime.
.
We just call it delicious. 💖✨💖

This fall is a amazing, so much fungus about. This is resinous polypore, which I’ve heard referred to as steak of the woods. This one might be a little old to eat, but still beautiful #ischnodermaresinosum #michiganmushrooms #mushroomhunting #fungiphotography #mushrooms #mycology #fungi #thewoods #trailrunning

Dear Patron family, I don't know if all of you have this picture (I emailed them to get a copy), but if you want one DM me your email and I'll send it. Anyways, I just got back from Behind the Barrel with Wild Turkey, and I implore you all to apply. I met amazing people, all of whom reminded me of you every day I was there. Now my family of misfit bartenders has grown more and my heart grows with it. I love and miss you guys! Hope you're doing well! #patron #allocatedalligators

Words can not explain the amazing experience and amazing people I met while touring Jalisco! I will forever be grateful for the knowledge shared by everyone in the group and especially @patron
Special thanks to @gingerbartender and @mariansb19 for being our hosts in the fields and at the distillery!
Also big thanks to @usbg and @usbg_jax for the opportunity!

If you ask me how my trip went, it would be all too easy to say that it was amazing and even harder to say everything else that this trip meant. Sure tequila flowed steadily, but the trip was so much more than that glass in my hand. The trip was about culture, tradition, community, and life. I wish I could find all the words to share my experience, but I guess I'll never be able to. The closest I'll ever get to these days again will never be through words, but through a glass of #Patron. Thank you to all the people on the trip who I can now call friends. And thank you for everything, @patron. #tequila #mexico #agave #usbg #guadalajara #atotonilco #allocatedalligators #mariachiislife #jimmy

Choosing one of 1000 photos to represent an experience beyond words. I went with enjoying some my favorite things with some of the most badass people I have had the pleasure of knowing in a long time, and being hosted with a kindness and purity of spirit that astounded me. Thank you @patron for letting us be your family. #patron #patrontequlia #patronhacienda #usbg #barlife #familianueva #allocatedalligators #tojimmy #timlovesmariachi #bartenderabroad
